I used to use a loop knot also. I bought into all of the hype that you get more action out of the lure until I saw underwater video in a tank that clearly demonstrated that there was virtually no difference when using a loop knot. Also on more than one occasion I had the line break inside of the loop. The knot did not fail the line broke from abrasion from the eye of the hook. I spoke to some friends about this and they have had the same experience of the loop breaking. Now I use a surgeon's knot to attach the leader to the line and a uni knot to attach the hook to the leader.

I've always been partial to the Kreh Loop Knot, Lefty never lead us astray. With the tag end pointing at the lure, you don't pick up weeds or moss on the tag end.

I love to use scents on my artificials, and since zman doesn't hold scent , I always cut a flesh tone foam ear plug in half, thread onto the hook, and give it a few drops of gulp juice.

I should also note... the fresh water ned rig with a 3 inch stick bait is killer for bass. THe ned rig jig head also slays in saltwater on the bottom

Just bought some of the Ned shrimp. 1/10th oz was the only size bulletz they had at the time and are hard to cast in the wind but it definitely did some damage to the trout!

That's almost a Rapala knot. Once you went back through the overhand knot the 2nd time I always go back through the tag to make it a bit stronger. Great video!

Thanks! I’ve lost fish in the past using regular alright knot! Now I tie an improved version and it’s been holding up

Great video Thonny - I started to use them after your first video. I really like them. I enjoy the finesse size and they complement nicely my power prawn & Junior from slat strong. All the best and looking forward to other videos.

Hi Thonny, so you found my secret honey hole…I saw you fishing there on Sunday so left you at it…..Mirrodines are working well there too as well as smaller micro baits during this colder weather. Don’t be sharing the location 😂 Maybe next time I’ll come over and say hello…tight lines

Thonny, for this finesse style fishing what power rod, what size reel, and what pound test braid are you using? Thanks P.S. This reminds me of fishing for smallmouth during my tournament days. 🎣😀

That was a nice tutorial. For that kind of fishing, what kind of waders do you recommend, and what would you typically look out for in a pair or waders?

Great video! I have a question unrelated to video. Where in south Pinellas County can I rake for live sand fleas? I initially thought any beach would do but was told by someone that they are hard to find locally due to the constant beach renourishment being done locally. Any thoughts/suggestions? Somebody else recommended FT. DeSoto.

🌴 hey thon, have you used other plastic shrimp bodies , and got the same results and what about colors ? There seems to be other brands that look more realistic , one thought is a lot of times people work the lure to fast, but if you don’t speed it up you don’t cove as much area , usually I’ll fan cast an area in front of me , have you tried putting sent on those shrimp ? And then there’s the weight of that rig you use , the right weight will let that shrimp slowly sink as it looks in nature , to heavy of a weight and it drops like a pompano jig , interesting vid , the whole plastic lure thing ,plastic crabs, paddle tails , twister tails , and 3D replica’s , this needs more study 🤔 actually It means more fishing 👈🏼😆👍🏼👊🏼

I’ll have to try putting scent on the shrimp! Also, I’ll try different artificial shrimp just to see how well they’ll work with the same jig head
