I was Steelhead fishing when the pink worm made it's debut on Vancouver Island sometime in the early 80's. The river I fish has nightcrawlers washing into the river all year round and the adult and juvenile Steelhead are tuned right into to them. We used to collect worms right off the bank and fish them on an egg loop but they weren't very durable. My friend started using a natural coloured rubber worm(remember them?) because that was the only colour available and he just hammered the fish. We experimented with all kinds of rigging and ended up using a needle and a similar rigging although I prefer to use a corkie instead of a bead. I watched the rubber worm become a staple piece of gear. Eventually, the colour variations started. Since the advent of KZfaq, I've noticed a huge crossover of the Great Lakes and the West Coast gear and techniques. I'd like to believe the rubber worm started on Vancouver Island.

I've never seen anyone use these here in New york. They look cool

What size egg weight do you use. I'm just learning fishing and researching different techniques wanting to learn all I can.
