My dad showed me that technique some 70 yrs ago now. He said he was shown that method by a railway worker when grain was tarped in the waggons. Just unroll the tarp in the middle of the waggon then fold down the sides. Job done. He lived under tarps and tents all over when boring for water in Qld, NT and NW WA many years ago.

I had Curtains, Main Tarp + the Cap Tarp x 3 quite a bit pulling Triples, Bris - Darwin. Kept us young fellas fit back in the 80's.

Good day Johno, You are so lucky there isn’t any wind blowing. Yeah have done my fair share of tarps & still do where I work occasionally. You got to admit when I see a semi with a tarp load I like to admire the folds & knots it takes a certain skill to tarp, but with tautliners introduced in the early to mid 90’s tarps are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Same with driving anything with a stick. Don’t mind helping a old timer fold up a tarp & some of the depots we deliver at. They really appreciate it because they are not light when they are wet. Great video, maybe show the different knots involved in tie up a tarp. Cheers Louis Kats 👍

G'day from France, i ran general freight back in Australia for years, tarped a des times a day (load, tarp, untarp, unload etc)so a 40 foot trailer,45 foot tarp, that's about a two and a half foot drop each end.I had (or where i worked i should say) we had 5 foot gates each end and a five foot drop all around..covered just about every-thing, i drive a tanker now over here, aluminium tarps now. I love your chanel, always wanted to drive a road-train.

That's awesome and great to have you along. I would love to come to France one day. In fact, I wish I could try driving around Europe. Sounds great.

The easiest way to fold a tarp - get someone else to do it!😂 Good job Johnno, luckily it wasn’t a windy day, cause that changes everything too. I like the idea of the forklift / telehandler - cause no one wants to lift those heavy ass things especially if they’re wet, god I’m glad I do fuel now.😂

Oh I wouldn't have made the video if it was a windy day. That would be funny watching me run around trying desperately to chase the tarp around the paddock.

@@RoadTrainAdventures Yeah it’s always funny when it’s someone else - definitely would be a rookie mistake, I can vividly remember doing this many many many years ago and luckily I was back at the yard / depot where I worked. I don’t know what was worse seeing the bloody tarp going everywhere or the fact that everyone was having a great ol laugh at me trying to fold the damn thing up. For the record I gave up and stuffed it under the trailer and tried again the following day.😂👍

57ft tarp... Did you just pivot spin on that tarp !!! On rubble. Never twist or turn your feet. Hang on has Eddie seen this. I'll ask him. Not bad. Always wondered how you guys do that.

As there is no videos on proper tarping Aussie style. Can you please do one. I can tarp myself but there needs to be a proper how to tarp video for those that can’t as there is only the yank crap on the internet.

I'll try to do one, one day but there are different ways of tarping. They are all very similar but periods get into arguments if you don't do it their way.
