Have fun! I'm consistent in a lake or pool, but not in a river.

Thanks, psyched to try the glued to back deck tip. Not heard of that before, makes sense.

Luc, this is fantastic. I had a strong kayak roll, but have been hesitant to try in my Alpacka Classic. The change in body positioning makes perfect sense. Do you have a similar wet re-entry demo?
@lucmehl_ak
@lucmehl_ak 3 жыл бұрын
I don't, but you are right, wet re-entry vids would be a good resource. I'll put it on the to-do list! I have a few techniques illustrated in the forthcoming Packraft Handbook (May 2021).

Great video. Thank you. I have had a strong kayak roll for over 20 years. The pack raft roll has been driving me crazy and killing my confidence. Fantastic step by step instruction.

Same for me! Not 20 years but ... strong kayak roll and confidence-crippling packraft roll. It would probably take a bunch of warm water paddling for me to get my confidence built up.

Thanks for the response. I think we might have some friends in common. Amy and Chris Robinson and Moe Witschard. I hope to meet you on a river sometime. Cheers!

Thx for sharing Luc, will be practice this until I nail it. Can I ask which paddle you use and the length? :)

i have a few paddles that choose from depending on road-side or remote destinations. I like 197-200 cm lengths.

Followup question - what throwbag is that? (I looked around for one, looked like Salamander and Super Guide had ones that were close, but not in that bag color)
@lucmehl_ak
@lucmehl_ak 3 жыл бұрын
I'm using a Hyperlite Mtn Gear throwbag. Similar in design to the Salamander or NRS Guardian. Sol gear has a beefier option too, if you potentially have a heavier load.

I sure like the ease of getting in and out of the SBs. It is a colder experience, but you can dress differently to account for the cold. For me ... short days on the water ... SB sounds ideal. But for long days, I like the warmth of the WW deck.

Awesome! One thing that will help is to push the paddle further up out of the water for the set up... the back blade should basically be resting on top of the boat when you snap the front blade into the lever arm position. If you can figure that out it will save you from having to work so hard with your hip snap. But great job keeping your torso glued to the boat, that's what got you upright!

@@lucmehl_ak My friend reminded mt to look at the tip of the paddle blade throughout the full sweep. This helped me quite a bit.
