Great video Geoff! From your experience with the tm-2, do you think a similar set up would be possible on that unit? I.E. 1) linking two triggers together so that striking one fires both waves at the same time, and 2) routing the backing track to main out and the click to headphones only, so you can send the backing track in stereo. Or are we stuck doing it the old fashioned way, click and track in the same wave file, hard panned right and left, and sending the track out in mono? Thanks for reading and again for the video.

If you wanted to run click and track to the soundboard, could you just put click in master L and track in master R that runs to 2 different channels on the board and run the click back to the bands in ears in L and track in R without having to use 2 separate tracks through 2 separate pads?

Amazing Video! So much helpful info! Was wondering, if the rest of the band started using In-ears, would it be easy to send the click track out to them as well?

Yes you can plug the spdsx headphone in a channel on the desk. Use the desk to send it to headphone mix only (, not front of house)

This video helped a lot. Just wondering, were you also using a stereo DI box? I saw that they're important for backing tracks to get rid of static signals and using the "thru" for routing things back to you with a mixer

Is it possible to pad link more then one track? I have a song with a break in it which means I have 2 different backing tracks for the same song and 2 different clicks as well. I'm only able to set up pad 1 with the fs1 and I would like to have the second half of the song on pad 2 with it assigned to fs2. Please let me know if you can help.

Great video. Tell me can I take the 1/4 monitor line coming back from the sound board and route it into the AUDIO IN of the SPD-SX. I would then route the AUDIO IN to PHONES to avoid any audio loops. Then I could plug my IEMs into the PHONES. I'd benefit from all the routing I've already done to PHONES instead of relying on a sound guy at FOH. I just don't know if that makes sense, would work, and wouldn't suffer from DB drop off etc... Thanks in advance.

Crap... now I have to buy one of these. I had the SPD-S but the process to import waves and then getting those waves to match an outboard click was a challenge. So I sold it and I now use only my MacBook.

Hey there Geoff i love your videos which are so informative on tech things im hoping you can help me with a problem ive been having,im using a roland td 30 and a roland spdsx linked together via midi for live gigs,im using accoustic triggers to use sounds from both modules layered ontop of my accoustic kit,so the td 30 is the master and the spdsx is the slave,im coming out of the td30 using a midi cable and into the spdsx,to hear both modules together im coming out of the mix in channel on the td 30 in to the phones of the spdsx, the problem i have is that i want to use the pad link function on the spdsx to run a backing track,so on one pad is the backing track and i want the other as my click or voice over prompt but when i send these to our front of house im getting both coming out front of house,no matter what i do from changing the route of the mix in to just phones on the td30 or any other route on the spdsx the 2nd pad in the link which is the click or prompt still comes through front of house,im coming out of the td 30 master left and right to one channel on our desk,is there a way to do this without using two channels on the desk as we dont have any channels left on the desk ????? looking forward to your reply thank you

@@GeoffFryDrummer thanks for your reply mate just want to be sure on what you are describing, would that mean midi reversed so the spdsx is the master and td 30 is he slave, could you just confirm then which leads would go where or would they remain the same ???

Awesome tutorial Geoffry. I really wasn't sure how to handle the backing track thingy. just bought this module 3 weeks ago. 2 small questions. 1: is it possible to link multiple backing tracks with a click track? You've shown how to do it with one, but image you have 8 songs per gig... would it be possible to use 8? or do you then use 8 kits? 2: I see your guitarist is using a Blackstar amplifier. My guitarist also has a blackstar (100-tvp-h) but he has some issues with switching banks. The blackstar is really slow in switching. Is your guitarist also experiencing this? greetz from Amsterdam

Nice video! I use all the features you spoke of. My audio in is my monitor and I use the click function in the device, so I don't have to create a separate click track in my DAW. I have been playing with the idea of song cues to notify when a verse or chorus starts, so I might as well add a clicktrack to that as well. Do you by any chance have any experience with MIDI-Sync?

Thanks for the sharing man! It's really helpful. Now I'm trying to use my spd-sx to run backing tracks with my band live, but I'm having a problem balancing the volume in my headphones. Sometimes the backing track is too loud that I couldn't hear my Click track. I tried to lower the volume of the backing track, but it will lower the volume of my output as well, and the balance for the sound man will also be affected. Is there any way to not send any signal to the phones? So that in my headphone will be only listening to the click track, no backing track? Would be really helpful if you answer my problems! Anyway, Thanks again! Keep posting more videos!

Hi, great video, thanks for putting it together. could I ask if you run from spd sx headphone out straight to in ears or do you have something in between to boost the headphone signal please. I have an spd sx and am thinking shure 215 or 315 in ears and wondering if in ears alone from spd sx headphone out give enough volume for gigs. any advice most gratefully received :)

Hey! Thanks for the video. I recently purchased the Roland and I'm having and issue that the click track that goes Phones Only, can be heared in the Master Out!! I talked to some professionals that use it and they said that that's why they don't use the Phones Out for anything. Do you have that problem???? In a live situation is quite delicate. Thanks
