Title of the video: How to Run/Fish Speaker Wire Through Walls and Ceilings This guy: I’m not going to show you how to run this wire through the ceiling, that’s a whole different video ???

I've watched a few video's. Most seem to be on the easiest part of the installation. Running through a hard ceiling perpendicular to the joists is much more helpful. But haven't seen any videos like that.

I use a cordless drinmel with a 2 inch cutting wheel on it to cut drywall. Don't have to jam the saw in, its shallow, and easier on the body. It makes clean cuts in the paper too. You should look into a manga puller, I use it to fish wire. I tie a split steel roller ball to some yarn and I can walk it through walls with the magnet. But I would have made this run without cutting the patch hole up top. Once I cut the hole for my speaker I send in my endoscope until I get it laid at a good angle on the top stud. Then I send in my 10 ft flex fiberglass drill bit. I use the endoscope to make sure my drill bit is in a safe place and it has an electronic level in it so I know if it's going straight up and down by looking at the thing on the app. Once I'm happy with where my flex drill bit is sitting, I attach the drill and carefully drill through the studd. That puts me straight and the upper ceiling between floor joists. Then I send in my wire snake and use the camera till I managed to line up the hole and get up there and then I just push it while it goes all the way down the ceiling. This is assuming you're ceiling has strapping.... When the ceiling doesn't have strapping you're kinda screwed... If the ceiling doesn't have strapping, i cut lots of access holes at the top of walls like the one you did. I make small angled holes for my flex bit driver and then very carefully I drove through every floor joist in as straight line as I can. I'll send my scope up every access hole on both sides to make sure there are no hazards or pipes.

What's the purpose of the hole being so big at the top, on construction sites I had to cut holes at the top of the wall above the ceiling grid to fish cables down the wall but not as big as that one, I was thinking maybe you did it to fit in a drill to drill through the top plate to fish through the ceiling or attic.

I’m all of my years of installing I have never seen someone cut the wall before snaking it. I have also never seen a hole cut out at the top to snake wire. You could have just sent from the top down and had one hole covered by an actual wall plate.

I have leftover paint from my living room so patching no problem. This looks like a cheaper option than flatwire. The exterior walls a challenge because of the slope of the roof. No room to reach them from in the attic.

He could simply use a whole saw so the port gets the air it needs. Also, use a rubber bushing/grommet on the hole for the wire.

smaller satellite speakers would likely be ok close to the wall. Its larger speakers and subs that would need a couple feet of space ideally.

US houses don't have nogs (horizontal timbers) between the studs (verticals)? Very easy to run wires through an empty space but what hold the wall together??
@Icdezines

Yeah there may be a big hole up top…but what most dont realize is hard ceiling is a total different game then drop ceiling. Sometimes a big hole is all that you can do to keep moving. Thats when you patch. The only real chance to avoid cutting is either attic or crawl space, or set conduit. Which isn’t always available

The cameraman shouldn't block your light on the terminals without camera lights. It makes it harder for you to work and for the viewer to see what you're doing. Otherwise, the video is full of good info (which I know), but others may not 8-).
