!@#$%^%$#@!@# NO WAY. You're telling me the same animatronic that I've heard that could easily toss a 165 lbs arcade machine across the room is ALSO capable of winning the Olympic Gold!?! O_o Yeah, you know what? Next time someone asks why my bots are "weaker" than what they expect, I am just gonna tell them it was to give their players a chance. XD

I LOVE it! I did this once in a game but I made them PCs. They were a team of animal-shaped Warforged bards, all with different builds. Sir Fredrick of Glamrock was my fav of course. My friends loved playing them!

Hehehe - Please tell me you allowed them some sort of joint team attack/ability, so they could 'jam session' their foes into submission? Also the older this video gets, the more surprised I am how many DMs have brought the bots into their games (with or without my help). I legitimately thought making this guide was a bit of a stretch last year. XD Boy, was I wrong. Out of curiosity, was their big bad also FNAF inspired? Or did you go with someone more ironic like Charles E Chez, the ratfolk Master Wizard? Personally, I've always wanted to run a campaign to defeat the evil King Of Burgerland & his devious court jester, Donald McGronald.
@usagi-sama8595
@usagi-sama8595 Жыл бұрын
@Flintworth As for a jam session, they had something like that. They got bardic inspirations or pluses to rolls (depending on how creative they were) whenever they all cast bard spells at the same time. The bbeg was a lich named "Lord Afton of House Cannith". He built the Glamrock model of Warforged to entertain children and then descretly murder them violently and collect their souls. During his assention rituale, he allowed the angry souls of 7 children to tear him apart and guarantee his transformation would be successful. After the ritual, the Glamrocks awoke with no memories and went their seperate ways. After ten-ish years, they discovered that they were all being hunted for their parts by a mysterious human known only as Gregory, and a thrall of Afton with split personalities named Vanessa, so they began to seek each other out. Foxxy had already lost a hand and gained a hook by the time they reunited. Sir Fredrick was an Eloquence bard with Mark of Hospitality. He became an inn keeper after seperating. Lady Roxanne was College of Swords/Mark of Shadow bard who became nobility by somewhat dubious means. Montgomery was a Spirits bard with Mark of Detection and was constantly haunted by the spirit of a rabbit-like warforged. Bonnie drove Monty mad until he became a swamp hermit. Lady Chika was a Whispers bard with Mark of Passage. She posed as a castle chef and sold state secrets on the side. The Dread Pirate Foxxy was a Valor bard with Mark of Storms. He took over a pirate ship after throwing the captain overboard. THEY WERE ALL OP AF! They were taking on CRs a bit beyond what a normal level 10 should have been, but they had a lot of fun being OP. My players were all serious console gamers who knew nothing about FNaF and considered it a kids' game. So I tried to play to that. I kept things moving and made them feel like they couldn't lose. I didn't even tell them that it was FNaF until one of them figured it out. After they got invested, I ramped up the difficulty and gave them a real challenge. They went from 10 to 15 before three of my millitary players were deployed. Sorry for rambling, but this was one of the best campaigns I've ever run, and I'm mad about the DMs curse. I made a campaign that I'll probably never get to be a PC in, and it hurts my soul.

No please, PLEASE ramble. I love reading about other people's stories and hearing how passionate they were about their experiences! (Love that you made Gregory into a villain BTW - it's a great use of the inspiration) Otherwise major accolades to you for pulling off a game with just bards! I am always bringing up in my videos and streams to not get caught up with ensuring a meta or status quo is met - like requiring a party to have a tank, healer, etc. I think it opens the game to be more tailored to what interests the table. I've never ran a game with all bards before, but I can imagine it would go about as wild as your's did. I hope you all are able to pick up where you left off when your buddies get back from deployment! :D

They are going up against a ghost cruise ship that has very old entertainment droids, star weirds, and maybe some Sith artifacts that are spreading malice throughout the ship... Hopefully they can find each other, find out why their ship ran out of power, why there are so many destroyed ships, and avoid the "Maker" and his band of rotting droids

@@Flintworth I put them in a room with two doors and windows from side to side and i made a camera system with portals that can looking to other portals. Everyone rolls initiative and then the animatronics roll a d10 to see what camera they end up in, if they end up next to a door the next player character has to roll to shut the door. If not then a temporary new initiative is rolled and they fight the animatronic. once that's done they return to normal initiative. Also, during the fight when the round ends, all other animatronics will roll to see if they end up near the office. If so, they join in the fight. There are also two rounds in every hour.

Ok I know it's early for this but if/when you do security breach I'll say this I'd treat like DEAD RISING like the first one in the mall maybe the building locks down the bots go crazy and you have to try and fight your way out or maybe try to rescue staff members and guests form maliciously murderous machines cause the pizza plex is a mall crossed with Disney land and Chucky cheese. You have a bunch of interesting possibilities for improvised weapons much like dead rising by looting stores and areas and getting creative like if you took a faz blaster and amped up the power supply for example. Course far as animatronics go you have staff bots not very bright not very durable looking you could probably smash them fairly easily with a crowbar or something but some would probably be armed with mops brooms flashlights maybe knives and the like if they're in a kitchen area etc. The common fodder zombie like monster. Endoskeletons I'd say a mix of barbarian and rogue being big tough very tanky very strong but no outter shell or armor crippling they're eyes or their legs or just attacking they're hp directly can drop it. The stealth comes from "playing dead" being still looking shut down and attacking from the shadows using attacks of opportunity Not sure how you would use music man or similar bots small frail scouts maybe who make noise and alert staff bots and whatever else. Than you have the main animatronics basically boss characters they're outer shell is like armor protecting they're joints and systems they're big strong fast smart etc. Compared to others but with some creativity and team work can be beaten. Now idk if you'd want to have something like the mimic or the weird ghost rabbit thing in ruin or someone like vanny I'm just focusing on the main bots and stuff

Okay, you don’t mind if I use all of this for my next episode? 😜 KIDDING. I am kidding. But seriously, though HOLY CRAP. I love the ingenuity you have here. I didn’t even think of combining Security Breach with Dead Rising, that’s a freaking really sweet idea! I was personally going to suggest playing up the stealth route (maybe like Metal Gear Solid, perhaps?) But I don’t want to go too much into that now, because I want to save it for the video. What I WILL share is that you’ve pretty much nailed the head on how I would nail the main animatronics. Such big stars like them DESERVE to have their own boss fights. ESPECIALLY Music Man in my opinion - I felt like his segment was the most under developed in the game (he should have had a bigger presence!) Either way, I am holding off finalizing any of my thoughts until after I play through Ruin. I really want to honor Steel Wool’s ENTIRE story all in one go. You know? As for you, keep up this level of creativity, man! You definitely have the right mindset to be a great DM.

@@Flintworth hey use any of it i was just spit balling i'm just happy you like it and i've been meaning to DM last time i tired everyone was in a rish and i didn't get to set up the world and it kinda derailed everything... i was really hyped being m first time it was a horror weird west campaign that was supposed to be our DND characters being sent to fight a cult but the cult leader pulls a Aku and sends us into the dark and gory wild west and we where supposed to help stem the tides of the dead and fight whatever horrors are in this new era and get to grips with the new weapons an everything an find away back so we could stop the BBEG who went back in time to steal some cursed evil tome from a ancestor of theres in the past because they where guarding the complete one and all they had from the future was pages an fragments to plunge the world into the terrors and plagues of undeath. Sadly all of that got so derailed there was no fixing it i had characters and everything it was October my birth month i was hyped it kinda knocked the wind out of me but i really need to try again.

I’ve never run a dnd game before but want to do a one shot at a small party I’m planning before we see the movie! (Big fans of the series lol). I will have no problems with the creative side, but I have no idea how to balance this! If I were to have the party face these animatronics one or two at a time, what level would you recommend them being at?
@Flintworth
@Flintworth Жыл бұрын
Ooo, this is a fun question I’ve never been asked before. But long story short, to give you a bench mark, a party of four 5th-Level characters would find fighting JUST my Master Animatronic a ‘worthy challenge, but not a difficult one.’ Short story long, balancing in DND is namely done using the Challenge Rating number listed on every monster stat block (it’s essentially their level). In the case of my bots, The Stalker is ‘Level 2’ The Runner is ‘Level 3’ The Master is ‘Level 5’ According to the Monster Manual, “an appropriately equipped and well rested party of four adventurers should be able to defeat a monster that has a [level] equal to the groups’ level without suffering any deaths.” So a group of level 2s could take on a Stalker, Level 3s my Runner, etc. From experience, where things get a little difficult for new DMs is when they want to run more than one monster at a time. Fortunately Challenge Rating can help you out here as well, which you figure out by adding all your Monsters’ levels together. For instance, a group made up of three of my Stalkers (remember are each Level 2) would have a combined challenge rating/level of 6. Which a party of level 6 adventurers could totally take on! Obviously, there are a variety of other factors that could come into effect with balancing an encounter. Things like hit points, remaining spell slots, and the number of fights in between long rests could all affect how things will go down. To which I would offer the first piece of advice: If you’re worried about going to hard on them. Don’t be afraid to change some things around on the fly if it helps your table have a better time! There have been numerous occasions where I’ve ignored a monster’s health pool or conveniently ‘forgot’ to use an ability. After all, none of them should be able to see your monster’s stats (at least in theory anyway) so they will never know if you are bending the rules to help them out! Oooooon the flip side, if you’re concerned about keeping things legitimately scary? Don’t let the party play anything higher than level 2. I’ve found most heroes start to find their strength when they reach level 3 and beyond. And nothing kills a tense game of cat and mouse more than your monsters getting curb stomped by your party unleashing all their abilities on them. Hope this helps, Woof! Please feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions. 😃👍
@Weehee123
@Weehee123 11 ай бұрын
I think that strength wouldnt really be average. There large animatronics with a weight that could very close to 350 pounds. Compared to a human youre not gonna win a fist fight with these things. But thats totally my opinion Edit:It also depends on youre class though aswell. Like a Bugbear would have a much better chance then a human
@Flintworth
@Flintworth 11 ай бұрын
First of all, opinion or not, always love feedback. I am always of the mindset, “there’s always room for improvement.” Second of all. I see where you coming from on weight. I’ve actually never given any consideration to the bots’ weight class in any of the videos I’ve made. Choosing instead to base my stats on their demonstrated abilities. Which in this case not being strong enough, not even as a group, to rip down down the metal doors. Hence why I focused on stats that would play up their stealth and charisma. To help encourage more cat and mouse gameplay! That all said, I think playing them more like juggernauts has a lot of game potential as well. 😃 Especially if you DO have players who could potentially wrestle them to the ground. That would be so much fun to run. Thanks again for sharing your input.
@Weehee123
@Weehee123 11 ай бұрын
@Flintworth totally understandable on that part. I just think the strength of these machines need a little more light. And in the books of fnaf "such as the silver eyes" Foxy could throw Arcade machines like golf balls. And hes the smallest in the group. Taking that into consideration theses robots I think would definitely be able to man handle a grown man. Also taking into consideration that they have enough brute force to shove the human body into a Freddy Fazbear suit which would take alot of strength showing theses guys can shove hard enough to break bone which in some cases can be just as strong as steel. But im completely fine with how youre taking the route of theses guys
@Weehee123
@Weehee123 11 ай бұрын
@Flintworth I also see why breaking down the metal door would be a vaild statment but from the statments we have on these robots strength they could easily break down thoses doors but cant in fnaf 1 due to the doors being the core aspect in protecting yourself. But I just wanted to shed light on how these animatronic can be just as much of a brute as a stealthly killing machine

How would you run this? Would it all be one encounter?
@Flintworth
@Flintworth Жыл бұрын
Good question! For me, it honestly depends on my priorities from the get go: to run a one-shot or a campaign? If the former, totally would make it one encounter. I’d probably even give my players options to fight the bots to the death if they so choose. But the important part would be to throw EVERYTHING at them at once. Go straight to Night 5 or 6, if you know what I mean. If going for a campaign, I would probably make each session have one or two nights - because you could easily pace it out that way to steadily introduce new bots and/or different places they have to stand their ground in. All the while sprinkling fun little set pieces during the day to build up the world lore. Either way, I could not see someone running encounters with JUST the original gang for very long. Sooner or later they will get taken out, or the party will TPK. And trying to stretch an ENTIRE year long campaign around them would be overkill and ruin the novelty of the situation in my opinion. Much better to either keep their story short and sweet, while (if you want more FNAF) moving on to play out the other games in the series.
