The S turn is the most important thing you can learn on your snowboard. You are not snowboarding until you are S turning. The best part about learning how to S turn or link your turns on your snowboard is the leg burn goes away from heal side sliding the whole mountain. Snowboarding is super fun and easy when it is broken down. If you tried to S turn on your own I can promise you it will be a lot harding than you think. If you follow these instructions the next time you snowboard in Colorado I promise your snowboarding with improve dramatically! I hope this video helps you snowboarding and I hope you have fun snowboarding!

I started snowboarding 2008 while living in Alaska on a camber board (for about 3 years) and moved back to NC and quit boarding until this season. Started back on a cheap rocker board and got back into pretty quickly but just bought a new Capita DOA and can't get this thing to turn for the life of me. The adjustment from rocker to camber is a struggle to say the least, any suggestions? I went from carving pretty good last week and going fast enough to make the board chatter to barely being able to initiate a turn and scared to death of the catchy edges lol.

On a first day I had no freaking idea what I was supposed to do. I did zig zags for an hour and gave up. I watched this video before my second try and tried to keep this all in my mind. It took me 2 hours to learn the S turn and I was so stoked! These tips were really helpful. Yesterday I went riding on my own for 5 whole hours ☺️

I just went to Wisconsin today to snowboard. I haven’t done snowboarding in 23 years bc I had a horrible experience when I was 9. I’ve been frantically watching your videos this past week and your videos have saved me from wiping out multiple times today! I owned that hill today. Thank you so much

First day of snowboarding was today at Vail. Had a lot of fun. Had several falls/scorpions but overall was a really good day. My thighs were FIRED UP TONIGHT! Got up off the floor and had the most insane charlie horse I've ever experienced. Looking to improve on my s turns tomorrow at Beaver. Tackled a couple blues but mainly stayed on green runs. Get going pretty quick and I bail out with a heel side slide and then try to get back into turns but it just absolutely lit my quads up so I had to take several breaks to rub the quads down. Thanks for all the content Johnathan. Love the channel.

Best and most helpful video I've watched regarding turning!!! Opening and closing the knee was more effective to me than other videos telling you to twist the board with your feet. I tried the twisting and it worked but the knee trick is far more effective and quicker!! Great video!!!

Critical skill. Alot of people will find this video helpful. Focusing on rotation at the hips to initiate each turn will help it come around. Particularly with adults upper body rotation alone (moving your shoulders) will not get the job done. Keep up the great videos JB!

Hey Johnathan. Came across your channel in August 20 after I went to the south island of NZ to learn to snowboard. Your channel inspires me. I can surf and skate but I'm finding snowboarding the.most challenging of the three. The toe side is killing me. I think it's part boots, part technique and the rest is in my head. I get scared when the slightest speed picks up and attempting my toe side. I've got heel side locked down. I'm back up in the north island of NZ. Catching the spring snow at one of the fields here. During winter this place has amazing runs. I am envious of where you snowboard. There seems to be such varied terrain with many wide stretches. The grades also seem easier to learn. Wish me luck tomorrow because it will likely be my last run for 2020! Thanks for this awesome channel. You're a damn boss on the snowboard. Love your content and enthusiasm. Cheers from your fan in New Zealand. :)

giantlabs so You ride your heel edge so you want to turn you will start bringing your knee and crashing the bug at the same time bringing your shoulder Down the run pointing towards the other side you want to go to. But then happens is your board is going to face down the mountain and as you continue to crush the bug and move your shoulder the board will go from pointing down the mountain to catching to your toe edge which then allows you to complete that hurt. I hope this helps you man you totally got this

You have helped me a lot man but just one question do your feet hurt when your doing snowboarding cause me and my friend have had that problem for a long time our feet always hurt I think it’s because how our feet are shaped
@JohnathanBuckhouse
@JohnathanBuckhouse 3 жыл бұрын
Stoked I have helped! It might be you are just using new muscles in your feet. If you don’t snowboard a lot if can cause pain. Also how tight are you making your boots. Maybe loosen them up.

I can ride my heel edge perfectly fine, but the moment I try to transition to toe edge, during the transition the point where the board is facing down the hill, the board starts to pick up speed and i end up going down fast and falling. Help please?

I got myself into a bad habit. I can ride my heel perfectly fine. But I CAN NOT ride my toe edge and that’s obviously holding my back from S’s and actually riding how you should. Should I maybe take a lesson ?

@leawnajewell
@leawnajewell 3 жыл бұрын
A couple things could be causing this. You may be shift too much weight too quickly, you're not keeping your hips, shoulders, and feet in line with your board, or you may be leaning too far back during your heel turn. See if you can get someone to video you doing heel turns so you can asess what is causing you to fall.
