That Damn Jurassic Park Game! That was the bane of my existence as a kid because it didn’t have saves you had to play it in one sitting. Finally beat it and it thanks to save states and it was sooo anticlimactic lol.

There is a way to back up your save states without needing the Network folder on the PC. If you play the game on the Raspberry Pi directly from the USB flash drive using the 'retropie-mount' folder (rather than by first copying the rom to the Raspberry Pi's micro SD card), then the save states (and the save files for games that originally came with a save feature) will also be stored on the flash drive alongside the roms. Then you can simply plug out the flash drive and plug it into your PC to back up the save states that way. If you've already copied the roms to the Raspberry Pi's micro SD card though, and then created some save states, then those save states will be fused into the RetroPie operating system. So you won't be able to access them simply by plugging the micro SD card into your PC. However if you plug a flash drive into the Raspberry Pi with an empty 'retropie-mount' folder, then all of the Raspberry Pi's roms and saves should copy to the flash drive. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me for PS1 roms/saves though, the only way to back up PS1 saves straight from the flash drive would be to play them directly from the flash drive using the 'retropie-mount' folder from now on, but it does work for all the other consoles. retropie.org.uk/docs/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive/

Same, man. I spend like 15 hours on a game and accidentally saved over instead of loaded my state and just thought I was screwed and restarted. OOF

So that I dont fill up my sd card, how do I override a save? As in how do I replace a save state with an other so I don't have multiple save states?

Drew, how much space do you think you should leave available on your sd for save states/save files? Like on my image for example I have 7000 games.. I know I'll NEVER save state EVERY game.. but in the long run wouldn't you think even leaving 5gb free for saves it would eventually feel up? Then you'll run into a issue trying to save? SOME saves take a couple of mb. Especially actual game saves

5gb is plenty!!!! most people do 2gb

@@drewtalks thanks for the reply dude! And yeah I just wasnt sure. Because let's say you have 7000 games. If you save state each one.. I know most people will never do that, and probably never play em all lol. But still, 1000mb is one 1gb correct? Add that all up and you could run into a problem, just trying to think ahead

@@drewtalks well I'm talking looooong term. Like let's say I make one for someone or a family member. Which I plan to once I finish up my image. Itd suck ass if, 3 years from now it freaks out because they ran outa memory. I know its abit far out there VERY unlikely anyone will save state every game Haha. I just like thinking about all possibilities
