How to save gas: setting the temperatures on the boiler well
The ideal temperature for domestic hot water is usually between 45 and 55 ° C. This interval is therefore the best indication to set on your boiler with instantaneous domestic hot water production. It makes no sense to exceed 55 ° C in the case of instant production because you will still be forced to mix it with cold water, because it is too hot. Therefore, set the domestic hot water of your boiler above 55 ° C only if you have a storage system.
Traditional boiler
Those who have an old traditional (non-condensing) boiler should keep the temperature below 60 ° C to avoid the formation of condensation and keep the boiler in optimal conditions. However, if a good result is not obtained at this temperature, it is advisable to replace the boiler with a new generation one.
Condensing boiler
In condensing boilers the water temperature is automatically adjusted thanks to an external probe. Once the external temperature has been detected, the system adjusts the water temperature according to the temperature set by us via the thermostat. This system makes it possible to contain the temperature of the water as much as possible, recovering the heat which, otherwise, would be dispersed in the fumes. For the condensing boiler, the water temperature is between 50 ° and 60 ° for a system connected to traditional radiators. Going above 70 ° would have an unnecessary increase in consumption. However, if you have an underfloor heating system, the water temperature will be between 25 ° C and 50 ° C.
