I appreciate the honesty that you gave with thinking you were set on a certain look but found that it wasn't working in your home. I can't wait to see the finished project. ❤

We appreciate your kind words! The selection process was by far one of the most difficult in this entire home building series. For the most part we had similar taste which made it much easier. I can't imagine if we both were on two different pages!

Loving your series! Been waiting for the new episode to drop haha ! I would go with light wood floors - you can always paint your lighter shade cabinetry but changing floors is more expensive in the long term. Also the lighter hardwood floors would go well with the light tongue and grove on your ceiling. But I know you guys will choose the best option! Looking forward to the next video already ❤

Thank you! Appreciate your kind words! We are hustling to get the videos we are pretty much all caught up so we’re pushing tight deadlines 😅 which is pretty typical for this house building process, we’ve learned haha. Ahh the battle between light and dark so tough. I just worry light May be too match my match, who knows! But great for keeping a cleaner floor. Maybe we will find something in the middle!

I think that darker flooring would give some nice contrast, considering how many light tones there will be. It might also add a bit of visual cohesion to the tiles you want to use in the mudroom and bathroom. I would definitely play around with the flooring, really testing things out with a couple of boards to get a feel for the overall effect.
@FarisandLisa
@FarisandLisa 11 ай бұрын
Your comment is music to my ears! Totally agree with all of this. I also love the old world vibe the darker wood could bring into the house. I think it would tie in nicely with the whiter/gray rustic stone we're using on the range hood and fireplace. Just still have to convince Faris :)
@JB-ej2qy
@JB-ej2qy 11 ай бұрын
Thank you for using real wood flooring and not LVT. Light wood floors gives richer look vs dark gives a rustic look. Lighter is easier to keep clean and hides any imperfections better. For paint, I like the primer coat the best. Lol Countertops, I’m a fan of granite. Flooring I like porcelain. Your stained ceiling, I was leaning towards the two coats but the wood might get washed out. So I guess either way. Your cabinets look great, only recommendation is to use draws when you can for lower cabinets. Also I think I would have stayed with better cabinets in the bathrooms. Because there is so much moisture in those rooms and it was only 2k savings. I’m a fan of walk in pantries because they save you on cabinets cost. I feel for your dads back brace, back pain is awful. I really like the over all look and flow. You guys are doing great. Congrats 👍🍺
@FarisandLisa
@FarisandLisa 11 ай бұрын
Definitely prefer hardwood! But I know the dirt on a hardwood floor makes me a little nervous. Maybe we will find a medium tone so we get the best of both worlds! I like granite too, maybe for the bathrooms we saw a cool honed blue under stone granite that we both really liked! We did consider using Bridgewood in the bathrooms, but we weren’t planning on hiring out the paint process so now we gotta save a few thousand here and there because painting is pricey. So far we’re feeling good about the selections for now 😁 thank you for the encouragement!

Hey guys! Been following you since last 2 months and I love the progress you've made! Also love your videos! So... I'd recommend a darker color for the floors so that it could give some contrast with the cabinets and the ceiling colors and also with the walls' white. Besides, once you have that done you could add some more contrast with furniture if you feel like. The only warning is that if it's so dark it may get dusty easily. Hope yo do great!! Regards from Argentina 😊

Hi Joelaugustinbonader, thanks for all the advice. We feel the same exact way! Love the look of the contrast but a little nervous about the dusty floors especially since Lisa loves golden retrievers. We might just have to invest in a robot vacuum :)

DEFINITELY light. I chose dark floors for my home because I thought it would be a nice contrast, but they are a nightmare to keep looking clean and introducing an additional wood tone made my rooms look busy and uncoordinated. Get as close to the tongue and groove color as possible!!
