How to save and get more flowers from a dying Waterlily plant.
1. Drain out the water from the waterlily pot and take it out from the tub/Pond.
2. Remove any debris, Old leaves, or unwanted grown weeds from the pot.
3. If there are no extra plants grown in the same tub, simply add 50-100g of any organic fertilizer like vermicompost or cow dung manure at the side wall of the pot.
4. You can also fertilize the waterlily plants by buying a homemade organic compost bag.
For this make 4-5 holes of 1-2 inches around the water lily plant and keep these compost bags in it and cover with a thin layer of soil.
5. If the water lily plant is too old and there is more than one plant grown in the same pot, just remove the extra grown plant along with its tuber for better growth and flowering.
6. Plant this extra water lily tuber in a mixture of clay soil/ Pond soil and 20% Compost. In this way, you can multiply the waterlily.
7. Waterlily can also be grown or can be multiplied through a single leaf.
8. For better growth and flowering in water lily plants keep removing extra, old leaves and already bloomed flowers from the waterlily tub.
Waterlilies need at least 5-6 hours of direct sunlight per day for better growth and bloom. So meep your plant in a place where it can get plenty of direct sunlight.
If Waterlilies are planted in a tub they require plenty of fertilizer, so adding a slow-release fertilizer specifically made for aquatic plants will boost the flowering.
Regularly remove dead old leaves and debris from the water to prevent algae buildup.
Prune the extra leaf from the plant, If your waterlily has too many leaves, they may abstract sunlight to reach the plant and hence plant will fail to produce as many flowers. So Cut out extra leaves.
Regular Pruning of already bloomed flowers can help to promote the growth of new flowers. As soon as a flower dies remove them to encourage more flowers.
