I was addicted to drugs and alcohol by the time I was sixteen. When I was twenty my parents took me to a behavioral therapist for an evaluation. This was probably the fourth one I had been to. I lied my way through all of them but I had decided it would be kind of fun to tell the truth this time just to see what they thought of me. After the evaluation the therapist pulled my parents into a room. She told them I desperately needed help and she said there was a one percent chance I would be alive in one year if I didn’t get it. I wasn’t ready for help and nobody knew what to do with me. I continued down the path and got quite a bit worse and began shooting up meth and drinking daily. It was three years, eight arrests and several overdoses later when God got my attention. I entered a Christian women’s program and God changed everything about me. I struggled for a little while, but God led me out of that lifestyle. In 2013 I received complete deliverance. And still today, I can tell you there is not one bit of addiction in me. God brought me from one percent chance of survival to completely free and thriving. Don’t ever give up on addicts in your life. They are not bad people they just need Jesus. God bless!

Pastor, I got the chills listening to this on my way to work this morning. I’ve had obsessive behavior towards an ex girlfriend of mine for a few months now. I can definitely relate to the story in the Bible. I recently contacted her to apologize for some hurtful things that I said to her, to show empathy and to at least get my feelings across. She hasn’t missed me at all. It was the closure I needed to fully move on. Hearing your message gives me hope that the right woman at the right time will come when I least expect it by God. Thank you so much for this message.
