Thanks! Rolling the R's is not a natural thing, it certainly wasn't for me. But after a bit of trying, you get the hang of it - I find that relaxing your tongue completely helps.

@@UltimateBucketList yes I know it's about travel but you made me laugh, it's was brilliant. I can just about get I right. She UK really amazed me even though I moved to Aus 50 years ago. Thee we were in mid Wales and went into the boozer and this cracking look Welsh barmaid says in her Welsh accent What will you be having so I had a pint of Guinness and next minute when is talking to the locals in Welsh. How can you not be amazed. So am I right about Manchester, you do sound like your from there, a bit different from my mum who was Preston born and bred.

@@Steven_Rowe Incidentally, I was born in Preston, and I still reside around there now. But I spent a years as a child growing up in East Manchester, hence the accent. I don't have a typical Preston accent, though people can't pinpoint where I'm from exactly. And yes, how can you not love the Welsh?!

@@UltimateBucketList Being London born I was used to hearing West Indians with London accents, then I moved to Australia. I went up to Edinburgh in 2010 walked into a Boots Chemist and a young Hijabi lady served me, probably of Pakistani accent, well she had the broadest Scottish accent, it just brought this smile to my face. As I said I love it I really do.

Britain has always been multicultural and the migrants of the 70's have had their kids and now everyone of colour has a uniquely different accent. Seeing Muslims with a Liverpool accent and Chinese people speaking Brummie English is very common!

PRONUNCIATION TIP (from a totally clueless person): Start saying LAN..and then rant on to wherever turn your tongue takes...till your tongue is out of option and then add GO, GO, GO and finish off with KSH for good measure.

Thank you for finally making a phonetic video. Everyone else just makes a 'here is the name of the town, repeat.' Like, no, that is not how you teach anything. The monkey cannot see that fast. Question, is there a difference in the sound between the 'll' and 'ch' sound? In linguistics I think they said some sounds were in the tongue and some in the throat but is there a sound difference here? Like is the 'Llan' supposed to sound different from 'goch'?

Thanks. Yes, there's a difference, especially if you use the correct parts of the mouth to exact the sounds. The 'ch sound comes from the back of throat. The 'll' sound comes from the sides of your mouth. If you do it that way, there's a distinct difference between the two. Hope that helps?
