There's a lot of good tips that brea viewing and re-viewing. I'll keep this handy. Re-viewing ought to be a good invested ofttimes for every project until it's habit and instinct. Thanks.

This is the first video I saw of constructing buildings like this. I guess others do this on KZfaq, but it was pretty detailed and helpful.

Great Video Ron. Thanks for producing and sharing. Thanks for portaying a little portion of the old historical town of Bowie, Texas in your own model railroading layout. It makes history live on. But, I thourougly enjoy watching all your videos as I also model in N Scale myself. Also, just for your own FYI, (in case you're interested). My family (on my mom's side), is from Texas, namely around the Muenster area. Actually our old family homestead is located about 200 yards from the Red River just slightly east and north of the old townsite of Bulcher on the north side of highway 373. My grandmother and all her siblings used to go to the old one room school house which was just across the road (on the southside), from the old gas station/general store near the corner where highway 373 intersects with highway 2382. Also just south of Bulcher (on the east side of highwy 2382 ), is the old Coker Cemetery where a lot of my relatives are buried. (the cemetery is located upon land of which my great-grandfather Coker donated from his own homestead . From what my grandmother and my uncle Joe (her youngest brother), Uncle Lawrence (her oldest brother), Aunt Bess (her Sister), all told me, my family (by both marriage and birth back during my grandmothers era and before), includes the families with the following names; Coker, Cox, Dennis, Baily, among others in that area of which I can't remember after all these years, all of which put together as a group sort of owned most of the land in Cook County at one time. At one time, I wanted to buy and restore the old one room school house for historical purposes, but alas, I never had the time, nor the money, and never (except for brief visits for family reunions and to visit relatives), made it back there to do so. I think it (the old school house), is long gone now-a-days. I used to have a picture or two of it in its delapidated shape just before it collapsed. Now I don't see any remains of it (or the old general store/gas station), when I zoom in on Google Earth. It's so sad to see history disappear. Anyway, Keep up the great work Ron. Thanks once again for both your hard work and for sharing.

There's a Zen like quality in making buildings/scenery/models and one of the best qualities of model railroaders is they like to share their skills/techniques with others. Indeed scratch built has become nearly an art form for builders today and if 3D printing becomes inexpensive option there's literally no limit to recreating any building-structure a photo or your imagination can come up with.

I keep coming back to this as preparation for my first styrene build. I'm going to try to make a "Neighborhood Trolley" for my son to go on top of one of the Kato tram chassis, but then I'm going to make a depot as well to match one that's in France. I've already figured out the dimensions based on one of your other videos and drawn them out on graph paper, then cut out a copy of it and assembled it, but the grid is just a touch big for N scale.

Nice job Ron! Always a pleasure to see someone else building in N scale. I was pretty apprehensive when I did my first N scale structure. I felt like I was attempting brain surgery, but once you do a few, the confidence builds, and it gets easier.

This video is EXACTLY what I needed to see after my failed attempt at my first scratch-built N scale structure using chipboard. Just too many weak points where openings leaves just too little material over large openings (like garage door and 8' sliding glass doors. Don't why I didn't start with styrene since I already had a couple of sheets of .040. Duh! Q: How did you get that delicate awning support assembly off the painter's without breaking it?

Hey Ron, awesome video! Im thinking of starting to scratch build myself. I know it takes practice to get to your skill level but you make it look practical and less intimidating. I looked through some of the viewer comments and didn't see an answer to what my question for you is. I believe you said thst you used .040 styrene for this build. Do you find that to be a good overall size for scratch building? Or would you suggest another size thickness after having done it for a while? Thanks for your input and your videos are very helpful!

Only just found your channel and love your videos so I've subscribed. A lot of things are different in the UK as regards the train infrastructure but a lot of things can be utilised such as this warehouse which is really useful. Is there a source you know if, for building plans please ? It doesn't have to be specifically N scale as I will adapt them. Also doesn't have to be specifically railroad as I can utilise various buildings for alternate uses. Thanks.

Ron, your work is beautiful. If I could build a structure a tenth as fine as that one, I would be happy! Thanks for explaining your work so well, and doing such great camera work, too. One question. I bought a paper printing software deal for structures, but haven't used it yet. Did I make a mistake? I'm hoping N scale is forgiving enough to allow printed shingles, etc, to be acceptable. I guess it depends on how high you set the quality bar, huh?

Very nice work! I like your jig with the magnets; that's very clever. What are your thoughts on working with balsa wood instead of polystyrene? I'd imagine that maybe the polystyrene is simply easier to work with in a smaller scale-because it has no grain and isn't prone to warping-but I've never tried. I just prefer balsa and was wondering what your thoughts were.

I have a seemingly stupid question, but I'm asking anyway! I am working in N Scale for the first time, so it's also my first time using the polystyrene. While I love working with it so far, the one thing I DESPISE right now is cutting it with the xacto knife. The ruler slides around (no matter how hard I hold it) and the cut goes off line constantly. I dont think this is something that I could ever do no matter how many youtube videos I watched - some people have an aptitude for this sort of thing - which I never will! Just like some people will never play piano no matter how hard they try. I fall into the playing piano category!
