To think that Oli went from barely being able to properly sing to being an almost angelic like singer within than a decade is really interesting to see and witness!

Oli has come a long way. He reinvented him self in ways many didn't think would happen. Amazing performer as well. I've been practicing this alot lately. I love this type of vocal distortion because of how the expression is delivered vs just full on screaming it out.

Yeah the fact that they were a deathcore band, transitioned to metalcore, Oli got his vocal chords fucked then came back better then ever is a testament to how hardworking they are as musicians. Mad respect for them.

@@vmr_1997people always get it wrong about what happened with his vocal chords. He didn't F em up because he didn't know how to scream. If anyone has tried to scream and not having it down, it bloody hurts, he wouldn't have been able to do a full song sets onstage. He contracted laryngitis during a tour and instead of cancelling, he continued to sing. I've seen clips of that tour and he can barely talk afterwards. Plus he said he always felt stupid doing vocal warm ups. Now he does it religiously after seeing a vocal coach to teach him how to sing Aswell as scream. Because he was tone Def.😂

@@carolinecoy3164 I am that vocal coach, but I only work on his singing, not screaming (which he does absolutely fine by himself). And yes, he warm-ups religiously these days before each performance (because he knows the big difference it makes) and a cool down afterwards, like any serious "athlete" does 💪
@carolinecoy3164
@carolinecoy3164 9 ай бұрын
@@KimChandlerSinger oh cool. Well hello there. Lucky you. 🤪 I knew he didn't have a vocal coach for screaming. What I meant at the end was,that he does warm up before screaming and singing because his Vocal coach (you) told him it would make a difference. His singing has improved so much since Sempiternal, and stil keeps his classic rasp to his voice. Is that natural? Or did he purposely want to keep that? Thank you ❤️
@KimChandlerSinger

@@carolinecoy3164 I've been coaching him since "That's the Spirit" onwards. My main goals for him is to have creative options with his voice, i.e. clean vocals - either breathy or belted - or with distortion added, as he wishes through to full-blown screaming and be able to seamlessly move between all these vocal settings as adeptly as a gymnast or triathlete does. Stamina, sustainability & consistency are also incredibly important on tour 👌His range - both light & heavy - has improved immeasurably too 🙌

The incredible thing about Oli is he has NO idea how technically talented he is. I had him do a Cameo for me the other day and I asked him for advice on screaming and one the things he said was that singing involves so much more technique and for him screaming comes from a place of raw passion. But listening to their “making of” videos, you hear so many moments where he is doing things that require a lot of technique! I just don’t even think he notices.
