Amen....me too. I hv virtually one way onto a 48 acre farm I hunt and hv to walk past bottom of crop field to get to any of my stands. I hv about a 1 in 4 shot of getting busted on morning hunts. A second farmer leases the field for crops and I hv to see what I can do to screen the bottom edge and a grassy access road that splits the field perpendicularly without messing up the.leasee farmers activities. Pain in the butt....

@@davidthompson1529 we're out in the woods so there's no agricultural Fields but it's difficult in northeast PA because so many of the properties around us are owned by hunting clubs that are owned by people from the city, who do very little if anything to help the wildlife populations but at the same time come up here and destroy it with their hunting... While denying those of us whose family's have been born and raised here for generations the chance to hunt their properties, so they're taking advantage of the land and its resources and giving nothing back to the land, the wildlife, or us locals all of which they rely on and use....

@@Needagoodnamebutcantthinkofone Brother I feel your pain. 8 yrs ago we lost the rights to hunt a 160+ acre farm that we hv hunted since I was 12 yrs old (im 50 now). Farmer came to us and told us he was sorry but aftwr that season we had to find another place to hunt. We were stunned. We spent every off season baling hay, painting and repairing fences and barns. You name it we helped w it. We were always courteous and respectful of his property. I asked if he was selling it off or had we done smthng wrong. Will nvr forget the look of shame and regret on his face. He teared up and swallowed hard. Said no he hadnt sold it and that we had done absolutely nothing wrong. He was approached by an outfit frim southern MD (we are in north central MD) and that they had offered him 10k annually for exclusive righrs to guide goose hunts and it included deer hunting for themselves. He apologized profusely and said that between the operating expenses and MDs high property taxes he had to take the deal. This is happening more and more in this area. Pricing out the local guys. After 3 seasons on public land I found a small 48 acre place to hunt thru a friend. The place I mentioned in my initial posting about screening needs. It's a good place but not same as the old place. A lifetime of memories there, but no more to be made. All due to commercializing the sport. Just isnt right. Sorry for long post. Hv a safe and bountful hunting season, my friend.

Really depends Tyler. Berms, cuttings, switchgrass, conifers...they all have their place. The cuttings should be yard where you want deer to have browse and bed..not appropriate for all edges. Berms are great with elevation change...even conifers. Switchgrass is awesome but sometimes you need more height and an edge could be sgaded, like a north facing edge. Lots ro consider...I should really create a video for it 🙂 More complex than picking any one combo or planting

Hi Mike...extremely poor concealment or screening planting. Deer eat it...there should never be deer food in a deer screen. Buckwheat is a better soil builder and neither should be used for screening. I've heard of folks using sun hemp for a screen...I would personally avoid an entire seed company if that's what they are offering. Shows they do not know what they are talking about and I would hate to see you fall for it ☺️ To put it bluntly 👍

Whitetail Habitat Solutions Thanks for the reply, I ordered 50lbs of EW for concealment on edge of plots. I have power line access on the back of my property ( middle Georgia) that is 75 - 100 wide by over 2500 feet long, my thought was to plant the sun hemp for deer cover when they cross over from a 500 acre property above me, there will no hunting in or over this area. I planted buckwheat last year, but Georgia went through a very tough drought and it was a complete failure

H E...thanks a lot! If you Google deer screening...Egyptian wheat screening...you will find a lot more info from me, written and videos over the last several years. I hope it all helps...but probably more detail than you want, lol

thanks for the reply, much appreciated, I think you should include an ending comment about learning more about your practices, like you just did for me in your reply, if you have a website or sources to direct people that would benefit/related to your video topic you can direct your viewers there or tell them how to find it. or better yet create longer videos where you go into details. I'm a firm believer education is key to get more people to start good management on their property, the status que really has to change for our future generations. The best model I always refer people to is Dr. Grant Woods of growingdeer.tv, he teaches, shares information and the why. The only issue I've had with a lot of videos I've looked into is that there isn't a lot in the HOW dept. that's very reliable or clear. I'm a rookie and I need dependable , reliable, real information to learn from and its very frustrating to trying to sort opinions from factual knowledge in the management field.
