Learn how to take screenshots on Windows 11 quickly and easily. This video covers everything from basic shortcuts to advanced Snipping Tool features. No need for extra apps - it's all built-in and free! You now have the ability to add emojis in the Snipping tool. You can add arrows and shapes. You can also use the ruler using the shortcut keys Control R. It can also be found in more options (the three dots).
Note: You might not see the new features in your version of Windows yet. These are still in Windows insider program.
Quick Methods:
⩥ Windows Key + Print Screen: Saves screenshot to clipboard and "Screenshots" folder. Paste with ⩥ Ctrl + V.
⩥ Print Screen Button: Opens Snipping Tool. Capture area and save.
⩥ Windows Key + Shift + S: Opens Snipping Tool for easy snipping.

When I just browse videos in youtube and find a topic which is very common and maximum people knows how to use it, I generally ignore that video or skip it, but when you post a video on a common topic I stop there as I know that there must be something that I don't know in the video and start to watch it, and believe me everytime you surprised me. I've used the Snipping Tool often in Windows 10, but not since I recently upgraded my system to Windows 11, so this video is very useful and I've a learnt a lot of new tricks! However, right clicking a screenshot image it doesn't offer Visual Search, though it is available on images viewed in Edge browser. A minor niggle, but yet another excellent tutorial from you Leila! 👍

I got the ruler back. 🥰 Regarding your little problem with the text, it's possible to have a macro running in the "worksheet_change" sub where code detects which cell was modified and erase the cell content. A second option would be to use conditional formatting to set the color to white as soon as a cell is modified. In this case the content would not be really discarded but it can generate a panic effect on beginners. 😉

Hey Leila, I love your videos especially about the different office programm. Could you maybe make a video about how to most effectivly use Outlook contacts? For anyone in sails it is crucial inport contacts quickly and how to manage them. Specific Questions I have for example: How to digitize Contacts from business cards, If you type it in by hand how to setup a Company for example so you can add a contact quick through autofilling. How to use groups and categories properly. Aka how to manage contacts in Outlook like a pro? Thank you so much.

Maybe excel isn't the best example as it has its own way. How about any other software window. Other screenshot tools identify scroll and weave the image together (Snagit calls it panorama). Is that possible in Snipping Tool.

Not snipping tool as such yet, but Edge has this feature. You can scroll and capture the entire web page.

This was great. It's a total timesaver to edit the screenshot right in the snipping tool. Normally, I would do most of that in word as I tend to edit a lot of training docs with screenshots for visuals.

Thanks for this! Many features were in Windows 10 already, but I see the improvements. Am I the only one who would love to be able to change the opacity/saturation of the highliters? I feel like apart from yellow and green, the others need a bit less intensity. It would be nice to have it.

Very helpful, especially the video recording option and text extraction. Would be great if the update also included a counter option (used for creating manuals) and an option to obfuscate an area of the screenshot (not just email and phone numbers).

Wow, so cool! I hadn't been paying much attention to the Snipping Tool because it stopped responding to Shift-Win-S several months ago. I could get it to open, but I had to do it via the Start menu, and the extra steps for getting to where I could take a screen shot had me just falling back on Shift-PrtSc to copy the current window to the clipboard, pasting it into Paint and saving it as a JPG. I tried to fix it, but working with Snipping Tool's options made no difference, so I just ignored it. Because of your video, I tried PrtSc, Shift-PrtSc and Shift-Win-S again, and I was thrilled to find that not only is it responding to all the hotkeys again, but I have the updated Snipping Tool you just demonstrated. I think I will celebrate by making the "Here's How To Get A Screen Share Started" video that my remote support tool has never made!

Yup, pretty useful, under the category of photo editing tools. I tried them out before, the only request would be to add a text box next time the digital Pencil, other than that, loving the copying and pasting text right from the images, a better improvement would be to recognize text links automatically like a QR code. Cool and informative video, tho! 😺🥰👩‍💻⭐️💎

For disappearing things (like tooltips in Excel or Power BI) I have always found the timer really tricky to use. I simply use a PrintScreen (with Shift usually for me) to copy to clipboard and then open Paint which gives the whole screen (2 screens actually) as an image. For some reason PrintScreen keeps the vanishing tool tips. Then I just snip from the Paint screen (usually using the snipper). Maybe the timer has got easier, or maybe it just needs more practice time than I ever had patience for.

I have a challenge for you. What’s the easiest way to setup something like a Kiosk mode, where people can only interact with the current displayed window e.g an excel file but it is easy to unlock this and regain control when the main user returns, thanks 🙏
