In this video I'm gonna show you how I sculpt hair in Blender. I use this workflow a lot in my personal works. I hope you can learn something trough the video. I would say that this is definitely not one and only workflow for sculpting hair but it's been working for me pretty well.
Thank you very much to Huion for sending me Pen Display Kamvas 16 and supporting this video. Here's the link for more information about the product:
Huion Official Store: bit.ly/3myL8uh
Kamvas 16 Pen Display: bit.ly/3mCZhXs
Wandah Kurniawan's video: • Hair Sculpting for 3D ...
I made this sculpt of Hinata Uzumaki. As a huge fan of the Naruto series I had to sculpt her, I had to, I couldn't resist. I wanted to bring her in somewhat realistic/fantasy style. I treat this more like a sketch project. Just trying to get an idea out. Sculpting was done in Blender and Zbrush, rendered in Cycles, and final images composited in Photoshop. If you have any feedback don't be hesitate to let me know! Thanks guys!

Huion pen display user too here. Don't worry about the heat, every pen display user that I ask also have some heat build up too on their display tablet. I'm currently using Huion Kamvas 13 and the heat comes from upper right corner (with buttons position on the left). it's normal and not something to worry about.

Incredible Hinata model! I also really like her hoodie. Generally, I find modelling clothes really interesting, because in contrast to something like skin, there usually are many layers, folds, seams, stiches and knit patterns involved. Could you please make (how about two) tutorials, sharing your cloth modelling techniques? I propose the first tutorial to be about blocking in the overall shape and design (you might have a different workflow for skin-tight and loose clothing). The second tutorial would then be about adding details. You have a big portfolio of characters and do excellent work, to say the least. That's why I would like to see you go through each of them, curtly explaining how you approach different designs and different kinds of details. If you were to make these tutorials at the same level of depth as this hair sculpting tutorial, it would be an unbearable amount of work. However, if you instead opt for a more theoretical, rather than practical manner of teaching, you could cover all your techniques with reasonable expenditure. Personally speaking, I usually don't need a full hands-down walk through process to grasp the concept. Of course, it's still a lot of work on your side. Please let me know your thoughts on my appeal. Clothing is a very multifaceted topic and one where I can still learn so much from you. Should there be anything unclear with my proposal or need for specification, don't hesitate to ask. Have a fantastic day!

Since you said you’re working for a company creating figures. I assume you mean physical 3D printed ones. Would love if you can show us some things to think about when making models for 3D printing. I just started out learning and still watching a lot of tutorials for basic stuff. But all of the tutorials I’m watching is gearing towards making functional models for either video or games where they eventually will rig the models to animate them and for example they model the eyes separately to be able to animate it later. But I would guess making models for 3D printing is much different from those models made for video or games.
@Yudit1999
@Yudit1999 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't really know how 3d models for 3d printing works too. My job is sculpting only, the engineering, cutting, making it ready for print is done by different artist. I often got guidances from my lead artist if what I make is too thin for example and I need to make it more thick. I myself don't have and in-depth understanding on how 3d models for 3d printing works. All I know is just the general stuff, for example for collectibles you can't make the hair with particle system cause that would be useless anyway.
@zhaf
@zhaf 2 жыл бұрын
@@Yudit1999 ok yeah I understand. Thanks for replying anyway. So if I were to create a model that I want to print I would extrude the model inwards to create thickness for the 3d printer? Does the hair, for example, need to be solid instead of cylindrar like you showed in the video?

Hey Yudit, My son is 13 and he's interested in being a game dev when he gets older. He spends hours creating multiple Sims in Sims 3. Should I get his Unreal 5 courses or Blender or what so that he can entertain his interest in this field?
@ZekuChanU
@ZekuChanU 2 жыл бұрын
I am a beginner in game development but in terms of Unreal, you need to know the difference between game engines. So Unreal is a game engine that you use to make games like Fortnite. Another game engine is Unity and games that were made with Unity are like Genshin Impact. So check out those two and see which one appeals to you or your son more because lightings and things like that works differently depending on the game engine. And also unreal takes more pc power so you will need a good computer, unity is a bit easier on pc requirements. And then there is the coding part, if you want to make a video game, you need to code and know how to code (unless you are doing the non-coding route in Unreal). If he doesn't know how to code, then what he needs first is a coding class. Coding class is quite technical even at the beginning so he needs to understand logic, something simple, like back then my high school let us do "Scratch" which is a website where all you do is just drag blocks of code and then run the program and watch the cat move from one place to another. That is simple and not really coding, but it teaches you logic. Go there -> spin -> then go here -> do something else. This will eventually translate to step-by-step coding, if or else, math, and simple coding things. If you jump straight into a coding class they will always say "Okay so the first thing you see is void main blah blah blah, let's ignore all that and then type in printf("Hello"); and you have your first code! And then we move onto if and else statements...". And then you have all these { } that contains the code and the ; to end the code blah blah blah, might be too much to absorb for a kid. So if your son doesn't know any of these, let him play around with the simple stuff first. Get him to think and learn critically. "How would you go from 1 to 100?" You take 1 and you add 1 to it and repeat until you get 100. Then make it harder, "You have numbers: 1 5 2 4 6" and arrange them to be "1 2 4 5 6" but you can only swap 2 numbers at a time. In coding, that translates to "if 5 is before 2, then swap 5 and 2" and you get "1 2 5 4 6". Blender is free so you can just get him that if you want. The course I am taking right now in college uses Autodesk Maya which is too expensive for anybody but what I learn is that 3D modeling is not straight forward, you need to have some sort of artistic skills as well unless all you are making is cubes. Like be able to visualize something that is not in front of you. Make him draw or something and get him to be able to draw a house from every angle without looking at a house. Also try to get him to understand himself, what does video games mean to him? Why is it fun? What makes it fun? What genre does he like? Why does he want to become a dev? These questions are important because they are the reasons that drives me to want to become one and I am a physics student in my university. But one day I decided I want to become a game maker because I want people to experience the joy or relief after going through something that struggles them, I want players to discover things for themselves, or players that just want a really good story, players that wants to collect things. There are games where you kill other players and get enjoyment out of that, and then there are games where you play by yourself and you feel entertained by the story or what you have accomplished inside the game. If he just want to make games because games are fun, then that is not really a firm mind because when he gets old and gets too busy with essays, then that is going to tear him away from games. If he has a really firm grip on his dream, he will let go of the things that is holding him back, but never let go his dream.

Hi man, To be honest tho I'm bad at giving this kind of feedback. I'm not really sure what to say. Probably what i can say is that for me back in the day I started 3d because i love movies and video games. I choose blender because it's open source. The best thing about blender is it's somewhat universal, it has everything, so it will probably help your son find he likes the most in the 3d world. And then from there started focusing on one topic that he likes in 3d, for example me i love characters sculpting so i focused on it. Although learning other stuff is still important too. But makes what he like his priority.
