In this doll portrait sculpting tutorial I go over how to sculpt the eyes. Learn eye anatomy for sculptors, then apply your new skill in your own polymer clay doll. Better yet, try your own portrait doll.
Polymer clay eyes don't have to be difficult. They're actually a relaxing part of the sculpting process. Sculpt the eyes with me and do it the easy way!
After sculpting the eyes, you'll want to see part 1 again to go over making the head. Then you'll need to learn how to sculpt the ears. Please go see Lily the fairy if you would like an ear sculpting tutorial, she can be reached here... • DIY Fairy Art Doll - H...

I am not a sculptor. That said I am fascinated by watching sculptors. I enjoy writing. Currently my fantasy project which is a terrarium. I am in the process of making a dragon cave. I make up stories in my head as I go. Lol. I forgot to mention I love your videos & all your "fairytale nonsense". I'd love to see more.

I get inspired by nature on the most part and by fairy tale and fantasy. There are so many artists to name, but you have been one of the top 3 since I started sculpting art figurines and art dolls just about a year ago. Thank you for your inspiring work and your whimsical disposition. It is a joy to watch your videos. I now will never forget the words "lacrimal Caruncle". Lol!

I get inspired by artist such as yourself but I always end up feeling very inadequate because my fairies never work out and I end up scraping the project and starting again! I'm told to just keep practicing and after a year or so, I've improved but not to my satisfaction....some days I feel like giving up as I think I just don't have the talent but I love sculpting so much....yeah, I'll keep going! I love your technique and your videos are so helpful so thank you for sharing your tutorials xx

Yes! I think of science (a collection of facts) as truth that comes from the head, and art (a collection of beauty & emotion) as truth that comes from the heart. So I think of science and art as related subjects in a way, if that makes any sense at all. Have an excellent weekend, Michael!!! 🙂

I premake various sizes of eyes. Ball tool used to sqish in a socket into a ball of white clay, then using shimmer loose eye shadow I use the ball tool to transfer my chosen pigment into the socket then bake. Next I paint iris (sometimes limbral rings) using either dotting tool/toothpick or brush. Once dry I fill the socket with uv resin until it domes and using toothpick I wipe tiny bit of uv resin over the rest of the the white part of eyeballs, then cure and store in little pots for later use. This adds dimensions to the eye ball wonderfully. Tip, stick back of eyes onto tape to stop them moving all over while painting/resin. Also use uv clay or loose eyeshadow or paint for cats eyes.

Honestly, Diana, I'm currently experimenting with different ideas to create more realistic eyes. I'd like to create more dimension and depth. Your process sounds like it'd produce stunning eyes. Thank you for sharing, I hope others find it as helpful as I have. :)

I just started with clay (air dry) I think this is amazing. Im inspired to do this because I want to make little world's. And my goal is to make a fairy garden for my mom's trash can that her mail box now lives in. Im trying to figure out how to do it so our hot Summers, wet spring and fall, and cold dry winter's don't ruin it. So I'm watching and learning.

I love it! That's so fun. Oh, I do hope you figure out the weather proofing. One lady commented on one of my videos, I think it was the acorn tea set one, and mentioned that she was making many outside fairy houses and that she'll be filling them with miniatures. She was going to coat the fairy house with a sealant and then leave the minis unsealed, since they'd be protected in the house. She wanted children to peek inside the fairy houses to find a lived in home. Isn't that sweet? I wish you the best, Michele!
