@@gregs_garage definitely was meant to be a compliment mate :) .... I wanted to see a video made FOR the average person (me) who wants to do this job at home, with the tools I'd have laying around or can buy cheaply at the local hardware store..... I didn't want to see a video of a bloke with some fancy cleaning or spray machine that is so specialised, that no one (like me) has a chance of doing the job themselves. Cheers :)

I have a pool deck w a coquina aggregate finish . It rained during the pour which was a 2 day pour on the second day leaving half the deck a lot rougher than the first half what can I do to help even it out or make smooth on the side that was rained on? Need suggestions it’s a huge pour customer 😞

Question: we have a large whitish section on our top step. For years I thought it was a. chemical stain from the huge planter the previous owner had on the step. Nothing I’ve tried has removed this stain. First I tried bleach, then oxygenated bleach, then 30 second cleaner. Nothing removed the stain, but the rest of it looks brighter. Is it possible that we just removed the sealer and that’s why it’s white?

maybe sealer would darken it. could just be the concrete. Also if someone sealed the concrete too often, the layers of sealant can cause white staining. I seal mine every 3 years i.e. let the old sealer wear off before you seal again. Some neighbours seal driveways every year and it looks terrible with white streaks everywhere.

Does the sealant just protect the concrete or will it also be more smooth? We have this on our patio and its very painful on barefeet.

its a bit more smooth but not going to help your feet much. Someone needs to buy you some sandals.

nope. cracks are normal here with huge temperature variation from -30F to +90F. I suppose you could try to fill them but it would probably look even worse.

For color /painted area doe the paint go first and then sealer?

Not painted. The concrete is dyed when poured

Just looks bad. Weathered. Maybe some contaminants oil salt etc penetrate it more. Sealing may extend concrete life

depends on drying time, humidity, etc. I waited a full day, like 24 hours.

this sealant is holding up well after a year of traffic. Ultimately all you need to do is evenly spread the material on clean, dry concrete. A roller works well. Don't spray it and ignore the youtube keyboard DIY-ers with no videos of their own
