Just drove up to Lebanon NH to check them out and was able to tour the factory.

That’s awesome! I hope you enjoyed your trip. It’s great to see the craftsman at work . It made me appreciate my stove even more. Great company and reputation to go along.

Thank you for a great video on this wonderful stove! I've seen alot of home videos on this stove that don't instruct properly. I've owned my Woodstock Soapstone Fireview for 20+ years and have never been sorry.

That’s awesome to know I may have at least 20 years of service from the Fireview. It’s only been a month and I’m loving it. Thanks for watching and have a great day !

I have been running a fireview for 26 years. It has been a great stove. I have replaced the gaskets only 2 times and at least 5 converters, the fire shield that protects the converter once, the original was cast iron. Lots of the time you will see no fire at all in the stove but if you look up at the converter it will be glowing red and top of stove will be around 400+. Happy heating

I cant wait to start my wood stove up! Ive made one fire so far this year, and were in a heatwave right now

I understand. I couldn’t wait any longer, the temperature was in the high 30s so that was the green light for me. Thanks for watching and have a great day!

I used to have one of those. You're going to love it. I sold mine a few years ago because I have been heating with coal for the last 10 years. I really regret it. Coal prices have skyrocketed.

Keep in mind that a lot of the temp drop that occurs after engaging the cat on a stove like this is simply because the exhaust is taking a longer path across more material to sink heat into. As long as there are visible flames in the firebox, the bulk of combustion is still from flames and the cat is simply providing minor exhaust cleanup. When choked down enough that ALL of the combustion is moved to the cat, and you're no longer using flames down in the box to combust the wood gases, you'll likely observe a rise in EGT's, as the combustion is all taking place up near the stove pipe rather than throughout the system. I recommend single wall stove pipes for this type of system as that provides a way to capture more of that combustion heat that is near the "end" of the path back into the house. Modern "hybrid" stoves attempt to perform the majority of combustion using flames down in the firebox, either primary or secondary, and then use the catalysts to clean up the exhaust slightly while that is occurring. In the Hybrid systems the only time the cat is carrying the bulk of wood gas combustion is near the end of the wood gas part of a burn cycle, when there is no longer enough wood gases being released to support a continuous flame in the firebox, but still plenty for the catalyst to process.

why isnt everything pre seasoned?
@CampbellCabin8 ай бұрын
Because it would be a used stove if they seasoned it. Also to you would have to season it again before you start burning it for the season. It’s a yearly thing because the soapstone will absorb and hold moisture on the off season. Thanks for watching!

This has to be done every year at the beginning of the burning season or you will crack the stone .
