How To See In A Caterham Billet Aluminium Mounts And Spa Mirrors With DPR Motorsport Nut Conversion

This is a video showing different mirror and mount options for Caterhams with doors. The billet aluminium mounts are by far the best. As I say in the video Jason who sells these mounts is my friend, but this doesn't change my opinion in any way. I would never recommend anything I didn't think was good.

Another great video - which inspired me to get some aluminum mirror mounts together with Spa convex mirrors. They were very expensive but worth every penny and are a great upgrade. You do not realize how rubbish the standard ones are until you try these. Keep up your great channel!

Thanks chap and glad you like them. I tried to show show on the video the differences, but like you say until you have them you don't realise how bad the standard mirrors are.

Another useful video. For info, DPR now sell the Eccles billets but with the Spa adjuster included. Much cheaper and smaller overall but this only has the the billet/adjuster for the mirror, and you need to retain the other 3 plastic Caterham mounts

Hi yep I've seen those. The nice thing about this kit is that it includes all the fixings plus the other hinges. The standard caterham hinges don't look very nice to me. Plus it's nice that they all match. The DPR 2 pieces are cheaper because you aren't comparing apples with apples.

Thanks John. 3D printed mounts are better than the original mirrors, but these billet aluminium mounts are alot better. The link to the files are in the description to make them easy to find though.

Thanks for this, really useful to see the DPR bolts. I've got Jason's mounts which I need to fit before I get the car out once the next cold snap has passed and may well look at those DPR bolts too. I've just ordered the smaller bolts you mention below to plug the holes the original mirror will leave. Now I just need to get on with it. Also to say I'm enjoying your channel, great stuff and good advice.

Thanks for the feedback it's really appreciated 😊. Alot of time goes into making and editing videos. The nut conversion bots are really good. It also doesn't take long at all to swap the standard hinges/mirrors over. A very good upgrade in my opinion.

Looks great and sturdy but is there another good solution (except mounting onto the windscreen) for guys wanting to drive completely doorless ?

Good video, James. I have a set of Jason’s mounts and they’re fantastic. Very little vibration and incredibly easy to fit. They look great too. Thanks for the heads-up on the nut conversion. Do they sell them as a pair or do you have to order two?

Hi Simon they are great mounts aren't they. You have to buy two. For me they are well worth the money. When the mirrors are set in place they don't move, but if someone walks into them they could. It is so easy to adjust the mirrors with the nut conversion.

A small bolt with a washer already attached. I'm sure it has a proper name though and a nut on the inside. I'll find a link.

Have you found the mirrors still slip with the DPR bolts James? I can’t seem to get mine tight enough to hold steady at motorway speeds 😬 Big up for the billet Eccles mounts, I have them too. They’re fab.

My spa mirrors have never slipped standard or with the DPR nut conversion. The DPR nut conversion is brilliant I think. Well worth it.

There are also other simular styles of mirrors but I've not tried those. The only problem I've had is someone walking into them so they moved but that is totally understandable.

To be honest I don't have an issue with the standard mirrors and to say you can't see anything in them at all is a gross exaggeration. Also, I really don't like the pair of your 'spa' mirrors that have that awful silver nut at the top that really looks out of place.

Hi Mike I've actually bought some black bolts to change those. Some people like the classic look, but from my experience they wobble lots. We will have to agree to disagree. Maybe yours are fitted better than mine were. I know lots of owners agree as they make the change. I do respect the classic look and I know Fern isn't that look. That is the beauty of these cars they are all individual.
