Separating the viscous coupling unit (VCU) of your Freelander from the prop shaft can be difficult - particularly the front prop shaft which often gets very rusted. This video shows you how to separate the two without causing damage.

What I call a sensible instruction video. Does what it says on the tin with none of the waffle associated with a lot of rubbish on here. Thank you.

Can it be done on the car...., I want 2WD to gain MPG and less issues on a FL at 124000 , we are doing a banger rally in August over 3000 miles in 6 days so every bit helps. Its a BMW diesel auto version

Hi Pete, The easiest way to convert your Freelander to 2WD would be to remove the prop shaft all the way from the front to the rear. You can remove just the rear prop shaft but it is easier to just remove the prop shaft completely. Good luck in your rally, it sounds like fun!

Hello, thank you very much! DO you have to mark some things to put it back in a certain way afterward or not?
@SueMaddock

No, it is not necessary to mark anything, just take note of the notch on the securing spacer and its orientation (it should be facing towards the VCU) - minute 1.02.

Hi thanks for the tutorial. What width chisel have you used?
@Freelanderspecialist
@Freelanderspecialist 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for getting in touch, the chisel will need to be small enough to fit in the gap, but large enough to apply pressure. The thickness will depend on the gap you have.

Smonta la crociera con pochi minuti separi la trasmissione invece di usare la mazza e lo scalpello.😡😡😡😂
