How to Service your VW Transporter

Welcome Bluudies, Alans been strulling with Poor MPG / fuel consumption, and as im unaware of the last time he was serviced I thought it best to service the 1.9 102 bhp Engine in my Volkswagen Transporter. The other engines across the range, including other Transporter variants will be very similar.
In this service I change the Oil and Oil Filter, Air Filter, Pollen/ Cabin Filter and fit new Glow plugs as he was starting to struggle to start in the winter cold air.

Watching you fight one handed with the air filter housing was a bit painful, ngl. Maybe just invest in a magnetic mount or a GoPro style harness 🤷🏻‍♀️ Great vid other than that though, thanks for taking the time to show it all 🫶🏻

Not sure why mine was different but the socket for my oil filter was 36mm not 32mm. Just Incase anyone else doesn’t have a 36mm socket halfway through the service. Great video mate 👍🏻

Mate please add to your link description, Glow plug change on 1.9tdi as for the T5 I couldn’t find one until I stumbled upon your video. You saved me so much time once I knew exactly where the glow plugs were. Thanks

Now then buddy long time no speak next time you service your dub. Run it up to temperature then crack the glow plugs off first before changing air filter etc. You were lucky there mate. Oxidation causes a nightmare with steel/aluminium the amount of glow plugs what get stripped due to not getting it hot is ridiculous. Awesome video!. Awesome content keep it up.

I appreciate your feedback and I'm sure that might help someone reading the comments but to be honest these were not hard to remove at all. Just awkward to get tools into them due to not being able to see them. Cheers for the advice though.

Glad you like the video. When I bought this van it came with it, but I believe its from a passat. Most VWs of a simular era will have similar wheels to choose from.

what oil are you using please and is it all euro parts you use for service

I just typed the reg in and grabbed the parts online from them.

You forgot the fuel filter.

It's not been forgotten. It was done on last service. Only needs changing every 2 years or 20k miles according to service schedule. It will be done on the next one.

@@bluudysgarage well ordinarry car one 20K , bt tranmsporter Fuel filter at 50K DEFINETLY not like 20K .
