How to set ignition coil gap on your gas trimmer or blower!

This is a quick video showing a fool proof method to quickly setting the gap between the ignition coil and flywheel magnets on your gas powered trimmer or blower.

Replaced the coil on my stihl FC110 R edger and Couldn't find my gap tool and since i knew this wouldn't hurt to try i did and found out it works like mutha friggin champ! Big thanks brother. If you're ever in gulf shores Alabama I'll buy you a beer!

My fly wheel has a slightly different distance on oppposite sides when I rotate it against the coil. I would say 1 business card on the ideal side, and 2.5-3 cards thick on the other side.

You need to have the magnets directly under the coil pulling it down , you rotated them about 90° past

I agree - magnets have to be right at the coil. Good eye!

The gap was still good and not rubbing that’s the important part! I use card first then feeler gauge to be precise you want to be at 10

That makes no sense at all what you just said. The magnets will pull down and partially seat the coil anyway. He had the fly wheel aligned correctly when he tightened the coil screws. Anything else you want to add?

Hey, How'd one know that the coil of a 450 brushcuter needs changing? The spark plug is blowing really fast! Just to mention.

Here is a good trick look up the specs on the air gap on what ever machine you are working on and then use a FEELER gauge! Any other way is totally wrong and stupid!

First of all, people make mistakes even with a feeler guage. Only a swiss army knive type feeler set is ideal. The circular guages are just as accurate as using a business card. If the trimmer cranks easily and runs, your comment about it being a stupid idea is pointless.
