Steve, you just made me look like a hero in front of my wife here trying to figure out why the rototiller was revving so high. I agree with Sam here - I’ve learned so much from your great straight forward vids. Less head scratching and more time getting stuff done (meaning more time drink a beer or two at the end of the day). You rock, man. Thanks for what you do for us all.

Brilliant Steve, thanks a million. I applied your method to a Homelite HL454SP mower which had a screaming over-revving problem, over here in the U.K. Amazingly, it did not cure it. But you had given me the confidence that I'd set the lever arm correctly. It made me look elsewhere. Eventually I spotted that a sharp edge of the control arm was fouling the PVC sheath of the throttle/choke control cable. I used a cable tie to re-route this cable well clear. Great, docile running again. But I could not have done it without you. The manual was useless. This problem makes me think. On some machines, cables flap about all over the place and doubtless can cause a variety of problems when they foul controls. Have you found that? And do owners try to tie them down, provoking further trouble? I imagine many mowers have hit the garbage dump because of this. Is there scope for a KZfaq video on taming the control cable snakes?

Usually you rotate the governor shaft in the same direction you push the governor lever. In this video Steve pushed the governor lever to the right to ensure no slop in the linkages in the WOT position. He then turned the governor shaft clockwise. When you are done you should be able to push the linkage and there should be no binding, you will feel spring resistance. If your binding, adjust the shaft in the opposite direction. Always check your manual for what your working on. If you get it wrong the engine will race-shut it down immediately!!!

My Briggs 3hp mower will surge in rpms while mowing. When you stop the forward motion and pull to backup. It’s odd and has done periodically but last time it was most of the mowing job. I’ll give a blow out and check tank for some water or see if gas line in tank has a crack. It’s probably not a big deal but if you have a suggestion, great. Thx

greetings from the Napa Valley Calf. You really know your stuff. I do small engine repair basically on4 cycl only now. Might get back into 2 cycle or 4 mix later. What is interesting is the disinformation out there. I did see the dude telling you to adjust rpm by the shaft adjust in increments. I know your videos are accurate and right on. You have no idea how helpful you have been to me in some of the problems you help me with. Thanks Steve

Steve, my honda engine is on a exha2425 pressure washer, called Premium Residential 5 hp, but without throttle adjust. The only controls are the on/off switch and choke. Just replaced old horizontal compressor with axial one. Now not enough speed under pressure...the engine lugs down, pressure goes down with speed. How can I adjust it.

I’m gonna swap the stock #60 main jet for a larger one. Also with the idle adjustment screw if I broke it and have to install new one where do I begin? All the way in then back it out a little?

Thanks! Is the governor reset procedure for Honda mower same for Craftman 6.0 - throttle all the way to right and governor all the way clockwise?

You are the best! My dad taught me a lot about small engines, but far from everything. Then he went and died. Stupid Alzheimers! You have a gift to teach without being too technical or boring. Aaaannndd you are easy on the eyes. Maybe next video in a tank top? Just messing with you. Thanks so much. P.S. Natural born woman writing this.

I’m a case and 1/2 through my PBR stockpile. Apparently it has effected my vision and overall “judgement” (maybe) because my Honda Power Washer is running about 15,000RPM. Is that bad?
