I do saddle height reductions the same way, but I don't have the cool little roller jig. One thing you could have emphasized is the necessity of ensuring at least a 16th inch or so of the saddle should protrude above the bridge slot. Strings can buzz if their break angle is too shallow. I always factor the saddle "reveal" in my calculations. Great video!

This video and that formula was super helpful! I was wondering how you get the action on both sides exact while keeping the bottom of the saddle perfectly flat. Just followed your steps and what a game changer for precision.

Martins always come from the factory with slightly high action, because it's a lot easier to lower the action by taking the saddle down some, as opposed to having to put in a new saddle if the action is too low.

I just did this last night when I upgraded to a bone saddle. The sanding jig looks pretty slick!

Great video, Dylan. As soon as I saw that gig, I worked out how it'd work - brillant. Funnily enough, I've recently lowered my saddle. I just sanded off a little. Need to do more. And you guessed it, I put the saddle back in the wrong way around! 🤣.

Great video Dylan, I have a 2023 000-28 and have done the same. Some martins just don't have the saddle clearance to allow a 2mm action. Lucky ours do!

Have you noticed that 5/64 = 0.07813 AND not 0.090? At least you are still too high on the Bass side. ;-) So it means that the bridge had to be sanded +/- equally from the low side to the high side (0.070)

Great video and good stuff to know. I know i should know this however what is the Round Gage you used on the acoustic, and where do you get them? I’ve love Stringjoy strings, been using them several years. Which ones did you put on, I missed the name of them. Great video and many Thanks….!

Shouldn't tighten the trussrod with the strings tuned to pitch.. loosening is fine..

Excellent, thanks for this. If anyone is actually converting to metric I'd advice against using Siri, her margin of rounding is rather large!

12:58 why not set it on a flat hard surface and lift it with some feeler gauges to get the right amount sticking out?

Can i say something? If your heavy handed vs light handed theres a difference light pic thick pic and i like to dig a bit abjuzt for that heavy palm mute or ringing out the numbers are calling for what type of player ? Of everybody screams low action i agree but i bump it up heavy handed i dig in i play 13s. One more thing at the bridge string to sound board needs some room height more height more bottom end right? Pretty sure you'll have plsyed a nice low action but no bottom end and buzzing when did in. Just saying about my style guys is all. Thanks dylan thanks folks

Just a side note: Earlier Martins (like my '76 HD28) don't have adjustable truss rods; otherwise the rest of this procedure can work just fine.

I picked up a Martin 000-28 last week, it’s at the luthier right now cause it had super high action, and nut was pretty high, I will say Martin cements the nut in the guitar 😂 I tried to remove mine to sand it down and it did not wanna come out,

It kills me that while measuring relief, you've got the perfect device for doing so right in front of you, and then you pull out the feeler gauge! Aaaaargh!

@@DylanTalksTone there's no need for personal insults. The digital gauge would be easier and more accurate than the feeler gauge, that's all I'm saying.
