While I only keep freshwater, I have tanks both at home and in my dorm (I am from Wisconsin too, haha.) and I just move the fish between the dorm and my house instead of the whole set up! My freshman year was a nightmare trying to transport two 20-gallons, two 10-gallons, and a bunch of nano tanks! But, I suppose we all get smarter as we get older (I'm almost done with my third year) haha.

I'm not in college but when I was in high school I had a reef tank I was in Auto class so much that there was so many batteries that people were throwing away that I use the hot to run it LOL it was less than 3 gallons the only problem was once the principal found it kind of had to shut it down apparently 3 gallons of water wasn't supposed to on the top shelf of my locker with two car batteries powering Lighting in flow

I have some fish tanks, but when I’m with my sister at the fish store I tell her to call them Nemo and Dory, then I tell her they are called blue tang & Clownfish. (P.S she’s 5) ~

12g, you should check out Blue Line Corals in Chicago they where based in Houston but after Harvey they decided to move to Chicago. They have amazing stuff any very experienced reefers.

Hi G, I hope you are doing well, I have a few questions about that tank, my son is 8 years old and he love fish and animals and we are both interested on a reef tank like that one, Do you have an estimate how much water is going to the baffle, what is the GPH for the return pum, and what is the GPH on your powerhead ? Do you copepods and phytoplankton directly in tank? I just stoped video and saw you have a duncan and maybe acan and stoly, so i see you do have some lps. I heard you had to dose them. Is it because of the photo plankton and copepods. Is that why you dont dose? I am trying to figure out how to maintains this 10 gallon. I just have salt, but it is the fritz!

I have a question. *do you know what would happen if you used the water from the ocean for your saltwater tank?* it's probably not a good idea tho.

If it's clear, probably just put it through a micron sock. If it's a little murky, use the micron sock and use chlorine for a few weeks before testing to make sure it's at 0 before you put in your tank.

Hi George! My hubby and I are obsessed with you since buying our 35G reef tank. We've had the tank for about 6 months and it's going great but the only issue we have is drops in PH, sometimes down to 7.2 ?! We shop buy our water. How do you maintain/fix your PH? Nat and Adam from the UK X

This video was super informative. Just setup my first saltwater in my dorm room and am getting my fish tomorrow. Plan to transport and keep the fish in a five gallon bucket over breaks. What do you think about this?

I always admired reef tanks but was way too intimidated to get involved until landing on your channel. I have a 12.5G (20x12x12) glass tank in my basement my dad used to use for freshwater. We haven't used it in years but if it's still watertight, is that big enough for a true beginner or would you recommend something bigger? Also, what would be completely necessary in terms of equipment and what are some good brands to look into? Thanks so much!

I very rarely clean the filter, because I don't want to disrupt all the beneficial bacteria.

Hi George, awesome video. I just wanna know sometimes your light looks a lot blue and sometimes it looks white and more natural can your tank survive on the white light all the time?

All white light at a low intensity is honestly best for them. The blue light is just to make them look cool!

I use Fritz water as well as that what my lfs has and i know its good so I keep buy it from her. My 10 gallon just cycled and i have one clown fish. I have the lights out. when can I add a few corals? I will start with softies, but when I go up to lps will I have to dose? I just saw a kit to day, a beginner reef by kent and almost bought it. It seems to easy if I don't have to add anything..lol I am not sure if you have lps so maybe thats why you dont. I have no skimmer so I am guessing scraping walls, vacummin water change, top off water and testing once a week is all then. Am I right? Do u have a cleanup crew? I took ur recommendations and have 2 nassarius babys and 2 astrea, thinking of a hermit, also another clown and cleaner shrimp. Hope that isnt to much of a load!
