I have alpha2 and I am using the proportional mode (cause i have radiator and floor heater). I want to find the most energy efficient settings, my question is: what is the minimum and maximum for water consumption m3/h my Pump should it use. Let's say, its should not go under x.x m3 and not higher that x.x m3. Thank you so much for your help. Br Ramy

Hi Ramy! I am sorry for the late response, but I wanted to make sure I discussed your question with an ALPHA expert first. This is a tricky question to answer, since there are many factors to consider. Finding the right number for energy efficiency means that you need to know more about your heating system: its design, flow, heat loss in the building, return temperatures, etc. We have a data booklet on the ALPHA2 that can give you lots of technical data to help you make the best conclusion. You can download the ALPHA2 Data Booklet on our website: gfos.ly/6052uI9Sa. Just click on "ALPHA2 models B, C, D, and E Data Booklet". I hope this gets your on the right path. Thanks for contacting Grundfos, and have a great day! -Kelly from Grundfos

I've got a question about my Alpha 2 15-60. I've been experimenting with the settings, and using the power display and pump curves to try and estimate the flow rate for my system. My problem is that the flow rate seems relatively constant, whatever I set the pump to. As an example, at Constant Pressure 1 it uses about 20 watts which according to the curve gives approx. 0.7 metres cubed per hour. Raising it to Constant Pressure 2 the power increases to about 34 watts, but according to the curves the flow rate appears to be pretty much the same. Any idea why? 1. Is a tabular, detailed, version of the pump curves available? Trying to read flow rates off of the small image in the instructions is pretty inaccurate. 2. My system is 1992 vintage, with 10 mm microbore pipe to each radiator. Does that imply that the flow rate is going to artificially constrained anyway? Thanks in advance for any help.
@grundfos
@grundfos 11 ай бұрын
Hi Robert, Thanks for the question! The operating points in the two different settings depend on the system characteristics and pump hydraulics. In this case, changing from a lower differential pressure to a higher with the same system characteristics will imply a flow increase. Pump theory tells that; the differential pressure increases proportional to the square of the flow and the power increases proportional to the cube of the flow. You can find the performance curves of your product and insert different duty points in Grundfos Product Center. Here is a link to the GPC with information on how to use this tool to help you with your pump! gfos.ly/6054PjEjj I hope this has helped and that you enjoy using the Grundfos Product Center. Kind regards, Kelly :)

Hello, i have Alpha2, and its new for me, and i have difficult time to set it up correcly, i have radiators (4pcs) and floor heater (27m2, + - 70m pipes) two pipe system, and by manual i thought its a best constant pressure, but in your video it shows proportional mode for recomended, can you please help me understant this settings? and what would be ideal for me. Thank you in advance for any help. Dave.

Hi there, Dave! Thanks for your question. For purely radiator heating with thermostats, we recommend proportional pressure. For purely underfloor heating with individual low temperature zones, we recommend constant pressure. If you have a combination of both radiator heating and underfloor heating, we recommend proportion pressure. I hope this has help. Kind regards from Kelly at Grundfos

Can we use an App with pump? To control the underground floor heating temperature?
@grundfos
@grundfos 8 ай бұрын
Hi Saleem! ALPHA2 cannot be used with an app; however, the ALPHA3 can use the Grundfos GO app which has the Grundfos GO REMOTE and Grundfos GO Balance features for hydraulic balancing. This is something that is specifically used for installers when servicing heating systems. The pump itself cannot the temperature. This is up to the heating appliance, mixing loops, etc. I hoped this has helped to answer your questions. Kind regards from Kelly at Grundfso.

I need to enter the size of the radiator, the size of the room, the diameter of the pipes and the temperatures for each radiator ..+ the flow rate To find flow rate I'm looking to measure the watts being consumed by pump , that’ll tell the head of pressure applied, from that the selected curve will show the flow rate available Is available a software wher is possible to select pump name and wattage and to find flow rate? @@grundfos Hi Susan, I am homeowner in Denmark. I have just replaced the pump. I tried a few tips from the internet but it is too cold to try and be smart about fixing it. With my initial question I was hoping that there might of been a special mode to run the pump without the electronics just to get some heat in the house. Also the cap with the electronics does not seem to be available as a spare part. The pump itself seemed perfect. Thanks for the response but I no longer have an issue. 👍

the alpha 2 models are successful, but the ones from L to alpha 3 have a big problem because they no longer have a manual ventilation screw and if the self-ventilation is blocked, it's game over. they make noises like a train in the station and eventually break down. cheaper brands on the market that are all electronic and energy efficient too, it has, and Grundfos doesn't, it seems to me a big minus. and between alpha 2 and alpha 2 L there is a big price difference for having a manual-venting screw

I am a home owner and so my knowledge about gas central heating systems with radiators is pretty basic. I have had various old radiators replaced with new ones (no changes in the number or configuration of the radiators). The existing boiler (2 years old) and Grundfos ALPHA2 pump are upstairs. One of the new radiators in the downstairs lounge only heats up 3 of the 5 vertical panels. The other 2 panels remain cold. There are no air locks. The only way to force this radiator to heat up fully is by turning all the radiators in the house to maximum heat, and once all hot, turning all radiators off (apart from the lounge radiator). If I turn the Grundfos ALPHA2 pump to the high Constant Speed setting (III) then this also seems to work. My main question is “Is it okay to have the pump constantly set at this highest circulatory setting?”. It is obviously using more energy and it is also more noisy. Will I damage the pump? Or should this mode only be used to vent the pump?
@grundfos
@grundfos Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, Heating systems are different and behavior differs depending on system layout. One reason for the behavior described can be due to missing or poor hydraulic balancing. Setting the pump is constant speed setting III will not damage the pump etc. However, as mentioned it might consume more energy and the increased flow velocities in the heating system will increase the flow noise in e.g. thermostats and pipes. A hydraulic balancing of the heating systems can minimize the above mentioned issues as well increase the overall efficiency of the heating system. We suggest you to contact a plumber who can look into your issues. Kind regards, Sabrina
