What if I don’t have a trembler with the Post system. Six individual screws vintage Stratocaster? You can’t screw those damn to lower action. You have to lower them with the saddle. That being said, will that throw the whole process of tuning that G string using tremolo “ genius, by the way” I’ve seen somebody else do it, they gave you no credit. I let everybody know where it came from. My sister and brother-in-law just got handed down six villas in Tuscany. Or Tuscana. Beautiful. Let me know if lowering action with saddle flows off your newly set up tremolo. by the way, I’m an American. Bye a made in Japan Stratocaster mid 80s. It will be the best fit and finish feeling strategic after you ever played. Unless you’re already aware. Just trying to pass it along to you.

My firs impression was, "Oh no, I'm going to have trouble understanding this guy", but this was an EXCELLENT demonstration, easy to understand, very detailed and thorough, without extraneous biography, like so many other videos by people who love to hear themselves talk. This video lets you see what a real pro is doing when he sets-up your tremolo. He's the BEST.

This video is nearly 10 years old and it is still one of the best on KZfaq. If there was an award for the most clear and concise video on KZfaq on any subject this would be right up there along with your follow up video on the 6 screw trem. Not only is it informative it is done with encouragement for the viewer. You are a natural teacher. Every teacher of any subject in the world should watch this as part of their training. Many thanks.

This is arguably one of the most valuable guitar setup videos I've ever seen. My father passed just over a year and a half ago and I recently acquired his guitar. Nothing special--an old EVH Wolfgang clone. Until now I'd rendered it unplayable as it has a cheap 2-post tremolo. This video has brought it new life so to say and I'm happy to be able to honor my late dad by getting his guitar properly setup. Cheers!

Awesome video. One thing I would like to add is that after you keep the sticky notes at 4:44, would be the best times to adjust your 6 screws on the bridge. At this point tighten the 6 screws so that it just touches the plate. Now, at this point, try to lift the tremolo arm up/outward. It shouldn't move. If your tremolo moves upward it means you should tighten your screws. Also make sure that both sides are still parallel as said in the video.

Found this very helpful when I bought new guitar with floating tremolo, (other guitars I own had Trem set to be down bend only) when I changed strings your video got me out of a pickle when the spring to string tension was no longer in balance. Thank you again great work, take good care of yourself.

Another suggestion for your consideration: After you tuned the strings with the "pink" pad, you can just unscrew the tremolo screws until the "pink" pad falls indicating a balcance between the strings and the springs. I enjoyed all your videos, thank you! jc

One remark: if you turn the pivot screw with string tension (to lower or increase action as shown at the end of that video), you will scratch it with the plate's knife edge and this will impact the ability of the tremolo to return to its "zero" position.

When I first got my strat, I thought it was "broken" when the bridge was high up off the body. It looked very unnatural. So I set it up to be almost completely flush, but just barely off the top. Well, something kept telling me that I didn't like my guitar. I finally followed these instructions for floating, and now I absolutely love my Strat. I don't know what I was thinking before but sometimes you just got to try new things!

the important thing, does it stay in tune better now when using the trem?
@ripplebear
@ripplebear 2 жыл бұрын
@@sixslinger9951 yes it does. Combined with giving the unwound strings a couple of extra wraps above and below, it's very difficult to move it out of tune. Super stable, yet plays loose and free, all around.

Men I have a question should this set up be made after intonating the guitar? or should it be done before I´m having trouble with the tunning after adjusting the floating tremolo, it just wont stay in tune. And Its weird because its seems that when I use the tremolo bar the guitar looses its intonation and everything goes out of tune I have a fender stratocaster americal deluxe and it has the LSR Roller nut, which is suppose to help with the guitar intonation overall the guitar, and eventhough it wont stay in tune Do you have any advise for me Frudua, Ill aprecciated

As an update to a previous comment I made. I just fully floated my bridge a la Jeff Beck in my cheap Stratocaster copy and this technique is definitely the way to do it. The whammy bar is now very light to operate and quite honestly loads of fun. Tuning stability is quite good with minor retuning necessary after each piece of music.

Thanks so much. But my tuning goes sharp when I pull the tremolo, and flat when I dive. I have to manually kind of shake it back to return to perfect pitch. Bridge makes a click sound when i go up more than one note on G string with tremolo. Already lubricated the nuts. Anyone else facing the same problem?
@jimmcmahon8817
@jimmcmahon8817 6 жыл бұрын
That often means your springs aren't at optimal tension. Choose the right number of springs for the gauge of strings. Usually 3 springs unless using heavy strings. They have to be set so that even at the most relaxed position they are still somewhat stretched. If they are too relaxed at rest then the guitar wont return to tune.

That's why I often go to KZfaq to research what others are doing, and how I found your page. This is a great video, sir! I've watched the one you did on a Strat with a six screw bridge as well. Galeazzo, I've had my own methods for setting up Strat tremolos for some time, but I found yours to be quite educational! Ive followed Darrel’s way of floating the trem for my 2 other strats since it follows the same concept- minus the post it notes. But this video has helped in a different situation. I was having trouble setting up another strat I have. I may have played around with the 6 point screws which had varying pulls to the bridge. Started over and made sure that all screws were of the same height and followed this video on floating the trem using the G string instead and tuning from the claw. Works wonders! Thank you!

Thank you so much, Mr. Frudua! I did it here in my modest Ibanez GRG 150. It Works great! Hugs from south of Brazil (many Italian immigrants here, like me, lol)

HA! I'm back after my 0.10 set of strings finally broke. Now I've adjusted my Strat for 0.11 and it works exactly as described in the video. Thank you very much! :D

Your videos are great. I play a lot and have never done any guitar set up work. This gives me the information and courage to try.
