Another video that expands on my 'how to connect a power amplifier' video, this segment explores the use of bridge mode in power amplifiers: what exactly is bridge mode, and how does it differ from stereo and parallel modes? This video covers the advantages and disadvantages of bridging a power amplifier, how to set up the amplifier in this mode and how to connect loudspeakers, including the special cabling that may be needed.
Remember! A power amplifier in bridge mode is capable of producing thousands of watts - it is your responsibility to ensure that your loudspeaker can handle this power. Be careful!
How to connect a power amplifier to passive speakers: • How to connect a power...
A step by step guide to matching speakers and power amplifiers: • How to correctly match...

There is a cure for cancer but big pharm has bought the cure for Billions and have put it in a VAULT so no one can get to it. AND this is because the medical industry would lose 100's of billions . . this is what they refer to as GREED and not doing the right thing for the HUMANS.

Splendidly clear explanations without pointless repetitions or not needed information to confuse people with less knowledge. Was just trying to find some insight into bridging with speakon cables. I found out my amplifiers use the one where you need to reroute the wires, so will be using an adapter in the end of the cables when I need to bridge the amplifiers for larger setups. Subbed and hope to see more great videos like this in the future.

Thanks for watching! Another method for amps that are permanently rack mounted is to bring the amp outputs out to panel mount speakon connectors - you would have one each for channels A and B, and one more for bridge mode, wired to the binding post outputs. Thank you very much. It's very difficult connecting amps and speakers with someone who has never worked with sound system gear who thinks they know it all. This video, if he pays attention and doesn't get me all mixed up, will show him what I've been trying to tell him all along. I had never worked with speakon cabling before and that is what we have now and you have taught me a tremendous, invaluable amount of knowledge concerning the use of these cables. This has probably cost my friend, I know it all, tons of money. He has blown amps, speakers, tweeters...and the list goes on. Especially if I still can't get him to listen to you, me or anybody. Thanks again.

@@GLBProductions LOL. He owns half the gear and he's my brother in law. But u r rite. Live gigs we usually try to hire an outside person and throw it all on them. No, I end up being the guy who has to hook everything up while he barks and complains. Last time, I threw all that on him and he freaked out. I just ran in and fixed things real quick. IN and OUT.

Hi, this is a great video, has helped me out so much with understanding. I have 3 questions for you. Im trying to power 2 RCF S8018 8ohm 1000w subs with my Brooke Xpro3000. Im Trying to figure out if it would be best to run them in stereo which will give 1000w rms or bridge which will give me 3000w rms? Secondly when i bridge the amp am i right in saying it gives me 3000w at 16ohm for 1 speaker but if i link my second to the 1st it will give me 1500w per speaker at 8ohms? Lastly, would i then reduce the output level or keep it at full? Hope you can help, God Bless Tim
@GLBProductions
@GLBProductions 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Tim nice to hear from you. Stereo or bridged depends on whether you need stereo and also whether your amp can be bridged into a 4-ohm load. In terms of power you need to check what power your amp delivers when bridged into 4 ohms and divide that by two to give the power to each speaker. Output level depends on how much volume you need in the venue and your system processor settings, if any.

Great video! Thank you so much. If I was using two front-of-house speakers and one speaker was connected into the amplifier using the bare wire method, how would I connect the other front-of-house speaker into the same amplifier?
@GLBProductions
@GLBProductions 8 жыл бұрын
+Ethan Yates You're most welcome. In this situation you would simply daisy chain the second speaker to the first one using the output connector on the first speaker.

great vid, really well explained and very useful. I also laughed my ass of since it explained very well why and how I blew my first amp I bridged on the wrong side so to speak and connected to a 4ohm subwoofer, so I did everything in opposite of the right way (I was very young but I've learned from my mistakes)

Sir in integrated amplifier is it possible to do bridge mode? Even the amplifier is without selector fo bridge mode?
@GLBProductions

No, amplifiers like that are not designed to be bridged.

I hooked up 2 speakers at 8ohms to a Crown XLS 1502 amplifier with 2 channels. I wired them so that channel 1 fed 1 speaker and channel 2 fed the second speaker so they are in stereo mode. On the amp, there is an option to apply a low pass, high pass or band pass filter. Since I'm using the speakers exclusively for speech, I tried the band pass with limits between 100hz and 3K hz. However, after doing that I am getting feedback without having adjusted any of the gain knobs throughout the system. How is that possible since I'm trying to CUT frequencies? I must be doing something wrong.
@GLBProductions
@GLBProductions 7 жыл бұрын
Yes that doesn't sound right - it could be that there is some non-linearity in the filters which is causing the feedback issue. I suggest disabling the bandpass filter and just using a high pass filter at 100Hz for speech reinforcement. There is a lot of important information above 3kHz, unless you want your PA system to sound like an old telephone ;)

That was a very relevant, concise presentation. Thank you, I now see the concept more clearly. Question, how do I know when it’s 8 or 4 ohms?

Great video! though I do have one question. I have an older peavey sub I would like to add to my system but it only has a single 1/4" jack for the 8ohm speaker. Would it be possible to use a Speakon to 1/4" male cable to run the speaker with an amp in bridge mode? Hopefully that makes sense... Thanks!
@GLBProductions
@GLBProductions 8 жыл бұрын
+SGajpC Yes no problem at all - just make sure that the speakon end of the cable is wired correctly for the amplifier that you are using.

Sir I thank you for your video lessons here . I am a novice in what your sharing . I simply know basic knowledge on setting up my own active and passive speakers each having their own system . What I want to learn is how to combine both active and non active speakers or is this advisable otherwise I wouldn't anymore think about this . I am not really a pro DJ or soundguy and just do this as a hobby and when my friends would ask me from time to time for all of us to have fun . I learn better visually so I will be. Dry to see you doing a demo on this subject if you don't mind . You really take time explaining and showing everything in such a way your style is not. Why confusing to watch and listen too. Thank you.
