Tip: I installed my nest doorbell and couldn't hear the chime inside. Troubleshooting steps didn't help at all. Accidentally discovered this option in the Nest app called "Indoor Chime On/Off". Shows nowhere in the troubleshooting steps, but resolved the issue instantly.

I want the doorbell to ring on my iphone, like using my iphone as the chime, but cant manage to do so. Video works, notifications work, but I cant make it ring on my iphone or ipads. always check the voltage at the outdoor ringer wires. 18-24 volts AC is always recommended. I've never had a video doorbell install successfully outside that range.

For anybody with a Nicor PRCP2 (Prime Chime Plus 2), I installed mine today, there were no problems at all! I didn't even need the Nest Connector. Nicor has stated that it's not needed with this model. Hope that helps!

Perfect! I think the two things people have the most trouble with are going to be when they don't have their home wired for a doorbell, with the appropriately sized transformer, that, and the WiFi power. Was super easy to install though!

It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

Need instructions on connecting to a front/rear (three wire) chime. Both this video and the nest video only showed the instructions for two wire setup (front and transformer). I couldn’t connect to unit via Bluetooth (no troubleshooting there either), so I couldn’t follow instructions on nest app.

Purchased one and it will work about an hour then it does crazy things, goes off line and it gets really hot. Nest replaced the unit thinking it was defective, new one does exactly the same thing. It skips once hot at almost exact intervals. Checked the transformer and that seems to be within the recommended range. Anyone had this problem?

My existing doorbell uses 16vac transformer. After installation, the Nest doorbell works fine but the existing chime stop working. I can see the chime's hammer moves a little but not enough to make sound. It seems like it doesn't have enough power to strike. Should I replace the transformer with 24vac?

My existing doorbell button is mounted in a standard electrical box with a plastic cover plate ; a common situation. The standard electrical box screw holes don't line up with the holes on the Google Nest Hello doorbell's plate, so I need some sort of adaptor plate, but can't find one. What does one do in this situation? It must be a very common problem.

What options are available if you do not have an existing doorbell chime.

The 2nd Gen Nest doorbell doesn't come with the chime connector, only the chime puck! How do you wire it? Do you just attach the puck wires to each terminal along with the existing red and white wire? 🤔

In this setup where does the power come from? All the video shows is the doorbell connect to the chime box.

You may need this. No where in this video or on the setup it says that if you are using an electronic doorbell aka the ones where you can choose between a bunch of different tones, that it will not work until you go into the settings on the nest app and turn on that you have an electronic chime. You can then select a length of time the chime will ring up to 10 seconds. Also you can only change your chime song in those 10 seconds when the doorbell button is pushed. I spent 2 hours trying to figure this out messing with wiring and the little diodes that you normally put on the button (do not use or your doorbell will just continuously chime). It was a huge pain in the butt and the only reason I figured it out is because I found a random google forum talking about it after quite a bit of searching. Nest should really have this info on the setup instructions.

i followed all the steps, compatibility and no original door chime doesn't ring the worked fine before i installed the Nest Hello. I went out and bought a new electronic door chime and it won't ring (and yes, I'm sure the settings in the app are correct). Is the door chime supposed to ring or does it just ring at the button outside the house? The app itself is working fine, but not everyone in the house is connected to the app at all times.

Currently on my second one of these. On the first one the clear front of the doorbell started to develop what looked like air bubbles underneath it and was starting to chip and crack. I contacted Google warranty and they sent me a new one ( Jan. 2022). Today, November 2022, I noticed that the front of my second doorbell is starting to do what the first one was doing. Guess I will be contacting Google again.

Hello. Why my doorbell always warm ?

This was very easy to install, both chime and doorbell, but I got the damn blinking yellow light which means there apparently isn't enough voltage. House was built in 2003 so it's not some really old house with old electric. Had no problems with my Ring doorbell hooked up to the same wires. Seems like they just want to make you "Hire a Pro"

I’ve had this since launch day and it’s been really bad connectivity and delayed notifications. Stay clear till of this till it gets fixed.

The wired Nest doorbells (as well as wired Ring doorbells) are great products. HOWEVER, they don't tell you upfront that these wired doorbells all have an internal non-user-serviceable battery. IF you will be using the doorbell with a mechanical chime, just be aware that at some point, the battery inside will fail. The internal battery on these units are used to provide temporary voltage to the doorbell unit when a mechanical chime is used. When someone presses the doorbell button, power is temporarily routed away from the doorbell to the chime inside the house. The battery keeps the doorbell powered for the 1-2 seconds while this happens. Over time, this small battery will be unable to deal with the voltage drop and your doorbell will lose power and reboot itself. If you don't rely on a mechanical chime or if you use the Ring wireless chime, than it won't be an issue. If you do use a mechanical chime, depending on your environment (which includes usage rate, weather, temperature, etc.), the doorbell will stop function properly at some point in time. For most users, it seems to be somewhere between 1-3 years.
