If my vehicle was equipped with xm previous to installing the nex, would I still have to purchase a tuner for xm to work on the nex?

The factory SiriusXM tuner will not simply plug into an aftermarket in dash receiver. It may be possible to use your factory SiriusXM tuner if you use the iDatalink Maestro RR OEM integration unit. This depends on your vehicle being supported by Maestro RR. Check out this video for more information: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fb5olaiFrdC-m5s.html If your vehicle is not supported by Maestro RR, you can buy a SXV300 Tuner from SiriusXM. You can usually buy this tuner with a service rebate making it very low cost. You can see SiriusXM operation here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rd6EgNyKm9K2YnU.html

I tested this in 2019 August with a Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX with a Pixel 2 and Android Version 9.0. The phone is connected to the in-dash receiver with Android Auto Wireless. Hi, I can't seem neither to have Wireless Android Auto to work on my pioneer unit. I have a AVIC-Z910DAB (brand new), in France. From what I understand it's very similar to the unit in this video, just a the Euoperan version. All installed ok, everything works including android auto *WIRED* (USB port 2). Bluetooth pairing works as well (plays music, pass / answers calls), I have access to my phone book etc. When trying to discover the phone in the main dash screen, it will eventually see the phone by its name. Selecting it starts the connection. Android auto will automatically start on the phone (if configured to automatically start when paired with the receiver) but on the dash receiver, it ends with "connection failed" after 10-15 seconds. I cannot use the wireless android auto !! I have a nexus 6P with android 8.1 up to date. Un installed android auto twice, even did a factory reset of the dash unit, had it to forget about all the paired device (on the phone too). Wifi was on during the whole process (but not connected to any network). I'm stumped, please advise (I waited to purchase this unit specifically for the wireless android auto and it's said to work with the nexus 6P).

Android Auto Wireless and Android Auto are two different things. I see no reference to Android Auto Wireless on the Pioneer Europe Website: www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/avic-z910dab The website references Apple CarPlay with a wireless connection, and Android Auto with a USB connection, but no mention of Android Auto Wireless. Is Android Auto Wireless available in France as of 1 July 2018?

Deckerd Otto pioneer europe said that it's not there yet, they are waiting for the official release of Android auto wireless. from what I understand it's already there in the US but probably not in Europe. he said that my units will require a firmware update to support it. Still the firmware seems very alpha to me as the Wi-Fi channels are wrong for europe. But at least now I know why it doesn't work as they simply didn't enable the future or because it's not available yet in europe

Have AVH-4500nex (using Android phone - Samsung Note 10+ and/or S10+) I keep getting "Bad Hub" reading when I try plugging flash drive in (with only 3 jpg images). I want to use 1 of the files for "splash screen" Can you help? BOTH port 1 & 2 for USB work when I plug in different flash drive w/music on it. FYI - Port 1 is for Apple phones (or Apple Car Play) and Port 2 is for Android Auto. Thanks!

The Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX does not support a USB hub, or any type of USB splitter from USB port 1 or USB port 2. FYI - The Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX has an SD Card Slot behind the screen. You can see it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y7CZl9aBtbyvnnU.html You can put the images along with music and videos on an SD card. That will work. Be sure to format your SD Card or USB drive as FAT32, or NTFS. Don't use ex-FAT. It does not work. You said you have a different USB flash drive that is operating correctly. Put the images you would like to use on the receiver, on the USB flash drive that works correctly. It sounds like that will work too. You can have music, video and still images all on the same drive. Once the image is saved onto the in-dash receiver, you can remove it from the USB flash drive. You can learn more about saving images onto a similar Pioneer in-dash receiver here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hcigfruo17Scpac.html You can learn more about playing back music, video, and still images from a USB Flash drive or SD Card here on a similar Pioneer in-dash receiver: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gb2RjMmK0J-UeYk.html FYI - USB Port 1 used for Apple CarPlay and USB Port 2 used for Android Auto are clearly shown in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y7CZl9aBtbyvnnU.html And in this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9WAeJqWq56YXWQ.html Setup for Wired Android Auto can be seen here on a similar 2 USB Port Pioneer receiver: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLKUZ92J0bSno6s.html You can find a full playlist of Pioneer How To videos with very similar operation to Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rtygZZxilarVgac.html and you can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: kzfaq.info

When using a wireless connection for Android Auto, your phone is using it's WI-FI connection to communicate with the in-dash receiver. It does not use Bluetooth for this main connection. If you can use apps like, waze or google maps for navigation, or Pandora, or Sptify for music, that internet data is coming through your phone using it's cell phone data plan. Not through Wi-Fi. This is normal operation for an in-dash receiver and phone with a wireless connection to Android Auto. You can find more How To videos for in-dash receivers with very similar operation in this Pioneer You Tube Playlist: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hcigfruo17Scpac.html Please be sure to install the latest firmware for your Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX. I still cannot cast my phone to the receiver neither, each time I try to connect I get connection failed like others. My nexus runs 8.1 and I have android auto 3.4. The wireless android auto is mentioned in the user's manual. I don't understand why the screen mirroring doesn't work neither ? I suppose that it first request that the device is connected wireless and that the connection process mentioned above has to succeed / complete ?

As of 2019 March, Samsung has not enabled Android Auto Wireless on it's phones. When Samsung makes this feature available it will work with the Pioneer in-dash receiver. For the Wired version of Android Auto, I recommend to start the pairing process from the beginning. Start by deleting the phone from the in-dash receiver's Bluetooth Memory and do a system restore on the in-dash receiver. You can see this on a similar model here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbN6aNx7m5eZZ5s.html Also delete the in-dash receiver from the phone's Bluetooth Memory and very importantly, Restart The Phone. On the phone Make sure you have the latest version of the Android Auto App installed. On the Android Auto App, when it's not plugged into the car, be sure to remove all vehicles from the Android Auto Memory to start over. Plug in through USB Port 2. Don't use USB Port 1. You can see Android Auto Wired setup on a similar receiver here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLKUZ92J0bSno6s.html Follow the set up instructions on screen.

Hello hoping someone can help me. I have Pioneer AVH 2440 NEX that WAS connected by USB to a Samsung S8 worked fine here in Panama. House was robbed last weekend so that phone was replaced by new Samsung S10e. I used this video for attempted install, some small differences in this demo radio but both radio and phone seemed to pair correctly. The phone DID tell me there was some issue with bluetooth, but I'm connected with USB. The previous S8 bluetooth didn't work either I'm pretty sure, it had to be hard connected. I also downloaded latest Android Auto to phone, but I'm not seeing that icon on the radio screen, just the Smartphone one. Both versions worked with the old phone, just changed the screen around somewhat. I only ever listen to Pandora for old hippie music because I'm both, and Express VPN because only way to get Pandora here. I also used the phone occasionally surprised me when it rang, didn't even know I had that! Is it possible that new S10e not compatible with 1 year old 2400 NEX? That seems unlikely though, 2 of largest electronics companies on the planet... Also radio hardwired into about $5K amps, subs, speakers, Xovers, etc. all high end stuff worked splendidly with previous phone. SUCH a waste if I can't use that stuff...There are several audio shops near me here in David, Panama my last resort because my Espanol es poquito, muy poquito. Sorry if post is long, you know how we Boomers do tend to go on.

Android Auto works in the US and many other countries. Please be sure, Android Auto operates in your country with a locally sourced phone. I'm not aware of a reason the new phone will not work with the AVH-2440NEX. I recommend to use the USB cable that came with the new phone to make the connection. The Pioneer AVH-2440NEX will connect to your Android based phone for Android Auto operation with a Wired Connection through USB. You can see a video for very similar operation here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odZ7jM6kkpebl4E.html Please note: the Pioneer AVH-2440NEX will connect to Android Auto through USB. @@deckerdotto6035 thanks Deckerd that info should keep me busy for a while. The previous phone was S8 purchased and installed in US worked perfectly including here in Panama but was in fact connected always by USB. I don't mind that, it's OK but could not make new connection with the S10e purchased here in Panama. I suspect you are correct regarding firmware updates this phone has only been out for maybe 6 months if even that long. My other thought was to return the S10e cost $650 then buy a brand new S8 on Ebay for $300 or so unlocked version same as previous I got from Best Buy at home. That one worked OK but I did get some occasional messages like NO Device but I would just restart phone seemed to cure that problem. Is there possibly a BETTER phone I could buy for use with the AVH 2440 NEX that you could recommend? It's not realistic to think Pioneer will keep up with so many new phones coming out every other week I believe. I tried to call Pioneer CS in USA yesterday, but Panama phone said "no such number." Strange because I call US frequently never experienced this before? Having my electronics including my ONLY key for Subaru Outback stolen has been an incredible problem! Subaru refuses to release 8 digit key code unless I physically go to a USA Subaru dealer and provide documentation, they flatly refuse to cooperate with Subaru dealer anywhere outside USA telling me that's "illegal." Lesson learned always have another key but thieves probably would've taken both anyway...Also now Express VPN keeps uninstalling itself on my new laptop for some weird reason and I have to contact them each time to get it back. Stuff was stolen 1 week ago now I've spent entire week attempting to fix multiple issues with tech...

I'm following this with interest. I have an AVIC-Z910DAB (uk) with a Pixel 2. Like others have found that can set up the bluetooth ok but as soon as try setting up the wireless get a 'Connection Failed' error. Works over cable fine. I saw the post by Erv Plecter below about it not arriving to europe yet (hopefully a firmware will fix) on the advert on the pioneer eu/uk website it does not mention Android Auto Wireless but it does within the instruction manual on those sites (www.pioneer-car.eu/fi/en/products/avic-z910dab/support) so I'm hopeful it is doable - it's been 7 months since many of these posts have been made. I recommend to press the microprocessor reset button on the in-dash receiver. You'll need a paper clip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. Samsung must enable Android Auto Wireless on the phone in order for it to connect to the in-dash receiver. If Samsung has not enabled Android Auto wireless on your phone you may want to consider this set up to make it work. mspoweruser.com/tutorial-how-to-setup-wireless-android-auto-on-non-google-phones/ If this issue persists, I recommend to erase all phones from the in-dash receivers Bluetooth memory. As of 2019 January, Samsung has not enabled Android Auto Wireless on your Note 9. Android Auto Wireless works with Google Phones, Pixel3, Pixel2. Updating the firmware on the in-dash receiver is a good idea, but it WILL NOT enable Android Auto Wireless on your Samsung note 9. Only Samsung can do that. It's possible that Android version 9.0 (Pie) and higher will bring Android Auto Wireless operation to more phones. That is up to Samsung. Until that time, I recommend the wired version of Android Auto using USB port 2. You can see it work here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLKUZ92J0bSno6s.html Before you go with Alpine or Jensen, you may want to do some research and find out if the Samsung Note 9 is supported on those systems for Android Auto Wireless. Pioneer makes many full wireless Android Auto receivers. In the video above, one of the possible initial setup options for wireless Android Auto is to plug in your phone. It's a one time only thing. This helps the phone and receiver to recognize one another for the first time. Wireless Android Auto is automatic from that point forward. Please try choosing the FM radio source before switching the vehicle off. You can choose the FM radio source even when the receiver is connected to Android Auto. As of 2019 April, Samsung has not enabled Android Auto Wireless on it's phones. Please confirm you are using USB port 2 for Android Auto. This is not the same USB port you are using for Apple CarPlay. Android Auto Wireless will not work on your Samsung phone until Samsung enables Wireless Android Auto on the phone. If Android Auto is still not working, I recommend this process: On the phone, delete the in-dash receiver from the phone's Bluetooth memory. Also on the phone, when not connected to the in-dash receiver, open the Android Auto App and delete all known vehicles from the Android Auto App. Next, Delete the Android Auto app from the phone. Restart the phone. Download the Android Auto app and install again on the phone. On the in-dash receiver, delete all phones from the Bluetooth memory. Do a microprocessor reset by pressing the small reset button on the hard key button panel. You'll need a paper clip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset. Next do a Restore All Settings: You can see Restore All Settings on a similar receiver in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbN6aNx7m5eZZ5s.html When the system restore is complete, be sure Android Auto, Auto Launch is switched on. What are the actual requirements to use wireless Android Auto. AFAIK only Google branded devices like the Pixel series works but no other phones even if they are running Android 8+. Is there a regional issue with this for example this will only work if you physically live in the US? I have tried non-rooted Pixel phones with no luck. You stated you do not live in the US. Check with Google to see if Android Auto Wireless is available in your country. Just because the Wired version of Android Auto works, that does not mean the Wireless version will work, if Google has not switched it on in your area. The requirements for Android Auto Wireless are listed in the video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9WAeJqWq56YXWQ.html In the US, as of 2019 May, only Google Phones work with Android Auto Wireless. Other phone makers such as Samsung, LG, Motorola, etc.. have chosen to not enable Android Auto Wireless on their phones. The wired version of Android Auto works fine on many phones. This is not a trouble with the in-dash receiver. This is a decision of the phone makers to not support Android Auto Wireless. You can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: kzfaq.info

The settings on the AVH-W4400NEX has Auto Connect on and same on the phone. What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? In what country are you using this product? When using Android Auto Wireless on a Pioneer in-dash receiver, the phone is connected to the in-dash receiver through a Wi-Fi connection. When you drive the vehicle, all data for navigation, or music streaming services, or any other app, will be delivered to the phone from the local cellular service provider data plan. This is the basic operating principle of Android Auto Wireless. The phone must be able to have a Wi-Fi connection and to use it's cellular service data plan at the same time. I recommend to go back to the USB connection type for Android Auto. Since you've created an Android Auto Wireless connection the receiver will automatically default to that type of connection if possible. Plugging in the USB will only charge the phone with a Wi-Fi connection. You'll need to make it seem as though the phone and the receiver have never seen one another before. Please follow these steps to get back to a wired connection for Android Auto. 1. Delete all phones from the in-dash receiver's Bluetooth Memory. You can see this on a similar receiver here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMCCdJuks-Cal6c.html Next, do a Restore Settings on the receiver. You can see this on a similar receiver here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbN6aNx7m5eZZ5s.html 3. When the receiver restarts choose the appropriate Language and Standard Mode or Network Mode based on your system setup. Most people use Standard Mode. Next press the receiver's microprocessor reset button. You'll need a paperclip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. You can find the microprocessor reset button on the Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX at the far right of the hard key panel. Allow the receiver to restart. 5. Next be sure to switch the vehicle off and receiver off while setting up the phone. On the phone, I recommend to delete the in-dash receiver from the phone's Bluetooth memory. 6. Check the phone's Android Auto App. If possible, delete the vehicle/in-dash receiver from the Android Auto memory on the phone. 7. This is important. Restart the phone. After the phone restarts, it's time to start the vehicle and let the receiver power up as normal. Plug the phone into the receiver's USB 2 port. The Pioneer AVH-4400NEX has 2 USB ports. Please be sure to USB port 2 for Android Auto. USB port 1 will not work for Android Auto, After you plug the phone in through USB port 2, you may see a message saying "do you want to use a wireless connection for Android Auto?" decline the wireless connection option. If you have additional questions about the operation of Android Auto in France, I recommend to contact Pioneer Europe for support. You can find them here: www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/support

I recommend to delete the Android Auto app from your phone. Next, restart the phone. Next, download and install the Android Auto app to the phone again. Plug the phone into USB Port 2 on the receiver. Don't use USB port 1 it will not work. Use USB port 2 for Android Auto. Please be sure the cable you are using is a proper high quality cable capable of carrying data from the phone. Just because the phone will charge does not mean the cable is carrying data to the receiver and back to the phone. The cable that came with the phone is the best option. Here is a video about connecting your phone for Android Auto: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odZ7jM6kkpebl4E.html

What model number of Pioneer in-dash receiver do you have? You can usually find the model number near one of the corners of the face of the in-dash receiver? If you are using a Pioneer Wireless NEX in-dash receiver and you want Android Auto to work with a wired connection, you'll need to connect to USB Port 2. Android Auto does not work on USB Port 1. You can see this on a similar Pioneer in-dash receiver here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLKUZ92J0bSno6s.html You can find more How To videos with similar operation for Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX in the Pioneer Playlist: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hcigfruo17Scpac.html Please be sure to install the latest firmware for your Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX. You can find it here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/AVH-W4400NEX#downloads and you can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: kzfaq.info

Pioneer. I doubt you read these youtube comments. Perhaps someone else can chime in. Wired Android Auto uses the USB for the video and microphone, but bluetooth for the audio. Bluetooth compression is ABYSMAL, and really sucks having a full lossless FLAC catalog on my phone and have it wasted. Im hoping that AA Wireless due to it being over a wifi connection, does it not compress audio connection anylonger?

Please remember, Google developed and maintains Android Auto wired and wireless. Google also determines how all aspects of Android Auto operate. That includes the audio functions from the connected phone. When using Android Auto Wireless, all audio connections to the phone can be through WI-FI. On a Pioneer AVH-W-NEX in-dash receiver, when you are using Android Auto Wireless or Apple CarPlay Wireless, the WI-FI Audio Source becomes available. Please note, when using a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX, or AVIC-W8400NEX, you have the options of using USB Port 1 or SD card as a source to play back FLAC Files up to 24 bit. You can see the USB Ports and SD Card Slot here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZtaUfdR_rra0nIE.html When using the SD Card or USB port 1 as an audio/video source, you can still use Android Auto wired or wireless. This is a good thing because, the audio source will be independent of the phone. You can see this operate on a similar in-dash receiver here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gb2RjMmK0J-UeYk.html When using Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX or AVIC-W8400NEX, you will not have the same file capacity restrictions seen in the linked video. You don't need to suffer through the horror of abysmal Bluetooth compression on your FLAC files while using Android Auto with a wired connection. Simply copy some or all of your FLAC files to a USB Drive or SD card and enjoy your music. If you leave the SD card or USB drive in your vehicle and it will always be there ready to go. Can't get my 4500 NEX to connect to my Note 10 using android auto. No matter wired or not. So frustrating. I have a JVC head unit in another vehicle, and its not a problem at all.

First for the wired connection. Please be sure you are using USB Port 2 on the AVH-W4500NEX. There are 2 USB ports on the back of the AVH-W4500NEX. You can see it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y7CZl9aBtbyvnnU.html USB Port 1 is for Apple CarPlay and will not work for Android Auto. You must use USB port 2 for Android Auto. Also very important, please be sure to use a high quality USB cable connected directly to the back of the in-dash receiver. A $1 gas station USB cable won't work. Just because a USB cable will charge the phone does not mean it will carry the data necessary for Android Auto to operate. Are you plugging the phone directly into the back of the receiver? Or are you using a factory USB port or some other USB port somewhere in the vehicle? A direct connection to the in-dash receiver is required. Here is a video about connecting wired Android Auto to AVH-W4500NEX: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLKUZ92J0bSno6s.html I recommend to press the microprocessor reset button on the AVH-W4500NEX. You'll need a paperclip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. You can find the microprocessor reset button on the Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX on the hard key panel to the far right. Please restart your phone. For the wireless connection for Android Auto, please be sure your phone is not connected to another device like another vehicle, a headset, or portable speaker. This can block the in-dash receiver from connecting. I recommend to delete all phones from the in-dash receiver's Bluetooth Memory. You can see it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMCCdJuks-Cal6c.html Next I recommend to press the microprocessor reset button. You'll need a paperclip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. You can find the microprocessor reset button on the Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX on the hard key panel to the far right. Next I recommend to do a Restore Settings. You can see it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbN6aNx7m5eZZ5s.html Next, delete the AVH-W4500NEX from the phone's Bluetooth and Android Auto Settings. Next restart your phone. Be sure your phone is not connected to another device. Now begin the Android Auto Wireless setup process from the beginning. You can see it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9WAeJqWq56YXWQ.html Please watch the video with the sound on. Please clarify. The receiver is AVH-W4400NEX and the phone is LGV60. Have this phone and this receiver been connected and working with Android Auto Wireless at a previous time? Or this phone and receiver combination have never been able to connect with Android Auto Wireless? Please be sure the receiver has firmware v 1.02. If you need to install the firmware, you can find it here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/AVH-W4400NEX#downloads

Brand new $1300 phone isn't able to connect to my AVH-W4400NEX with android auto... I think its fine time Samsung stop putting premium price tags on outdated software. If you're going to charge this much for a phone I shouldn't be limited by what I can do due to software limitations. Other cheaper phones are able to do this. Why can't Samsung flagship devices do this too?

Please note, this decision is up to Samsung and other phone makers. The Pioneer in-dash receiver will operate with Android Auto Wireless on a properly configured phone. You have some other options for Android Auto. First is the wired version of Android Auto. Be sure to use USB Port 2 on the in-dash receiver. This will charge your phone. You can see it similar operation here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLKUZ92J0bSno6s.html Another option for Android Auto is to use wireless screen mirroring. Install a screen mirroring app on the phone from the Google Play store. Be sure the app supports the "Miracast" Standard. This is very important. The app must support the "Miracast" Standard. Connect the phone to the in-dash receiver through the screen mirroring app and start the Android Auto App on the phone. You can find more videos of Pioneer AVH-2300NEX, very similar in operation to AVH-W4400NEX in this playlist: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odZ7jM6kkpebl4E.html and you can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: kzfaq.info
