How to Set Up Boosteroid on Your Steam Deck

Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) are great for quick-launching websites which don't have dedicated apps. On a Steam Deck this extends really well to certain cloud gaming apps that haven't created install guides. The only downside is that you may need to retain a trackpad mouse in Gamepad Mode to access all the various features.

Additional notes:
- Installing the PWA via Desktop mode comes with the least amount of headaches.
- In the video, I'm using Edge for the browser portion. Using a Chromium browser to install a PWA tends to be easiest.

Regarding mouse control: While you hold the Steam Button on the deck, the right trackpad is always mouse, as far as I've understood. A is left click, B is escape.

I'd still recommend taking the time to map your controls. Especially when working with web apps, having dedicated mouse and keyboard inputs will make the experience much more comfortable.

I never had any experiences with Linux, and had no idea how to install it. Only issue is it won’t go full screen unless you don’t paste the right line into starting options. Now it works fine. Thanks for the video.

I’ve emulated your controller settings but I can’t get them to work? The app is only registering my trackpad when I fire up a game. Any ideas?

If your gamepad's not registering in a game, you may want to double check your game-specific controller settings. As long as your layout's set to a gamepad, web apps should pick it up as an Xbox controller by default. For Boosteroid in particular, it shows a small, green banner at the top right when I open the app saying that a controller's connected.
