I was born in the 1940s and I remember 1950s well. It makes me smile as I remember the time so well. It is so different today. My mother made her own clothes from, and sewed my clothes. I used to wear stiff petticoats which made my dresses stick out, especially doing rock n roll. I still have records of Elvis Presley, Pat Boone, and many others. I have clothes patterns and knitting books from the 1950s. I would sleep in my hair rollers so it looked nice.

The secret to getting rid of that is a good leave in conditioner, a comb and hair pic( do NOT brush it!) , and a diffuser! I STILL have my 80's hair at 52, long and loose curly, and I used to spiral perm it, so trust me, this WORKS!😂❤❤❤❤

I just found your channel. I enjoy all of your content. I was born in 1955 so i remember the 50's. Your hair is right on point. Many of the ladies I grew up with styled their hair like yours. To get your hair to flip under, brush from underneath and flip your wrist toward your neck just at the end. Hard to describe. I'll look for some vintage movies that show actresses using the trick. ❤

I very much appreciated this tutorial. I've been struggling with training my curls to do the classic wave and curl under. I wear hair toppers due to some thinning and hair loss and they're naturally straight, but my hair is curly. It's easier to style them properly because, well, they're not on my head lol. I do the front up and back so I can do pachuca style victory rolls when I want, but the rest is curled under. I've always wet set my hair in a bun to train my curls because they will start a revolution and absolutely NOT do anything remotely attractive, but now I'm thinking that some kind of under bun or three might be the way to go. I've tried doing a wet pincurl set, but it always just frizzes out in the end and I get the kinks from the bobby pins. I will certainly look into pillow rollers. I've used foam in the past and they're so dang uncomfortable. I tried hot rollers once, turned out very very 70's lol. Still keep them though, never know when you need to look like Farrah lol.

You did a lovely job😊❤❤❤ You need to separate those curls by hand or GENTLY with a pick so you don't rip that brush through, you will just break your hair like that! I have LONG naturally loose curly hair, and i used to do a spiral perm in it, before i figured out it was actually naturally curly if I worked with it right😂 This is the best method to keep from breaking it, i NEVER EVER touch it with a brush, only a comb/pick/ fingers. I know you want the brush as a setting tool, but separate it gently first, you will save your hair and it will stay thicker😉🥰❤❤❤ Also, the Aussie spray gel is really the BEST product for holding curls- its light to the touch but holds well- you could spray your hair with the gel and wrap it, you'd probably get better results 😊❤

I have long hair below my shoulders. Wavy on top half and curly on the bottom half. I'm more interested in getting the top half to be wavier. I live in SWFL and my hair tends to frizz in the heat & humidity. It's quite thick. Now that I'm retired it still puffs out for a day or so after my shampoo even in AC.

Ditch the brush, first of all, don't use anything except a comb, a pick, or your fingers- use a lightweight leave in conditioner when you wash it and a SPRAY gel, like the one the Aussie makes- also use a diffuser on your hair dryer, tip your head over and dry from tip to root upside down, with the diffuser, then flip it over and finish 😊❤

Your hair turned out lovely! I am glad to hear frizz is historically accurate because I have been doing my hair in wet sets for years with out issue until I hit menopause a couple years ago. It doesn't matter how I curl it or the products I use now my hair comes out frizzy, and the more I brush it the worse it gets. If you find anything in any of your books about menopausal hair I would love to hear about it.

The brush is the problem- I have long curly hair, I NEVER use a brush, only a comb, a pick, and my fingers! Also a lightweight spray gel, like the one from Aussie, is the perfect finishing product, along with a diffuser on your hair dryer!😊❤

I’m wondering how you deal with your hair getting oily between washing? I have to wash my hair every day. I’ve tried training it to go longer between washing with no success. It never adjusts. I’ve seen old videos from the era where they wash their hair once every two weeks!

I don’t really get oily hair so I can’t help out here I’m sorry! I have a pretty dry scalp and only need to wash my hair once a week. My mom also has really oily hair and she hair had to give in and wash every other day. But this kind of routine isn’t too hard to do 2X a week if you wanted to!

I get oily hair and do vintage curls. Before I go to bed, I hit my curlers with hairspray. In the morning I use dry shampoo and a lighter hairspray. The combination of the two seem to soak up whatever oil trying to form. I get a good three days on one setting. It is a lot of product, but it's still got a good shine.
@richellmcknight446
@richellmcknight446 Жыл бұрын
You use a product to soak up the oil from your scalp- fine clays, baby powder( preferably without talc), or even cornstarch- you put it in at the roots and gently puff it into your scalp then leave it for awhile, even overnight, and brush it out. That's the only way I know to actually rid yourself of the oil without washing it😊❤
