How to set your Hormann operator to manual and automatic operation

Another amazing ABi 'how to' video. In this video we are demonstrating how you would set your Hormann automatic garage door operator onto manual and back to automatic operation. This would be necessary if you have had a power cut and could not get into the garage with the hand transmitters. There shouldn't be any real movement in the mechanism. It may be time to contact your local Hormann engineer to check things over.

If we want to free some ceiling space, and only use manual mode, can we remove the boom arm completely?

Hi Sean, Yes. You should be able to remove the boom and the door will function no problem. The only issue you will have is that the boom acts as the locking mechanism. So the door will need a manual lock.

My door came off the runner and now appears to be misaligned. Watched this video to see how to get back onto runner which worked perfectly however as the chain only goes so far the door does not close. Is there a way to move the chain manually so i can align it again to close properly?

Hi Stuart. You should not need to move the belt manually. Have you tried resetting the operator to reset the limits for the door? If it is a series 3 then our video explains how to do this. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bNqSh7eHyKzZgXU.html

Play with the PRG button and arrows until the door will make itself some up and down movements and it's gonna teach itself the up and down point. Consult manufacturer manual for more info

I’ve lost my Hormann garage key. Door is left unlocked and can’t seem to lock from inside. I keep toggling the “snib” in both positions. But can still seem to open from outside.

If your door has an automation system, then the manual locking is usually disengaged. The automation system acts as the lock. The boom has a physical lock at the end near the garage door. If you press the green button on the traveller to set the door to automatic it should latch in at the top when closed.

Hi There, on closing the door in automatic position my belt and catch will only go far enough to close the door 50% is there an override to reset the closing travel distance for the catch, please? When the traveller is deactivated and the door is set to open the belt and catch will continue on all the way back to the motor/power box on Hormann Promatic 3 any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
