Your advice is important. But I would like to correct or add one more aspect is that if you have measured standing to the wall without shoes, you must add the high heel measurement of your shoes while measuring the lenght of paddle to seat post.

really worked out well. I was riding for an year with a certain seat height and yesterday for the sake of it I rose it up quite a lot. while pedalling was still not a problem as the straight leg thing and the angles were fine, I was certainly not comfortable on the bike and also, as expected, couldn't reach my toes to the ground and being a rider on indian roads and the abysmal traffic, you certainly know how much important it is. I came back from the test ride and watched this video, was perfect and I can barely touch my toe on the ground which works for me, on top of it, now the saddle height is almost 5 cm higher than what it was with my initial seat height ( that I was riding an year in). Fun stuff really. Got myself a Van Rysel racer jersey today and will start riding with it tomorrow in this new height. Cheers!

Actually I have Karbon e-bike which is ridden by all members in my family and I cycle for exercise so adjust my seat up and when others ride then they push it again down as they ride and then it is again difficult to adjust accordingly. Now I will mark the position by taking my measurement and do the same.

I am 43, and started cycling recently on an MTB Hercules FX 100. I experienced terrible pain in my back, knees and behind thighs...and then I found this video. I now realized that my seat was adjusted too tall height than it should have been by the calculation formula you explained. I have 11 yrs old son, he is shorter than me. My height is 5'9". His calculated length is 72cm and mine comes 84cm. Shall we adjust seat height to the average of two? Pls advise.
