if you get the error : This operation must be run in a work tree, in the terminal put "cd .." (to go to the previous directory). It works! Anyways credit to @Broken Knight Games for a great tutorial. Also love the DOOM shirt!

When you create the repo through Github Desktop, it sets up LFS automatically, right?

No you need to setup LFS like I do in this video for each new repo you create if you wish to use LFS for your large binary files
