@@ananyasingh2864 have you installed nodejs correctly ? npm is a node package manager if you have installed node correctly then npm -v must show npm's current installed version.

my style.css was empty but except that everything was fine. I re-opened the terminal, chose my file and re-triend. eventually it is worked. Thanks for the instruction Etisha
