How to setup the new Tuya v2 Home assistant integration

3 жыл бұрынIn this video I'll show you how to install the new (Beta) Tuya V2 Home Assistant Integration (Currently in Version 1.3.1). The new integration will replace the old, and give much better integration through the use of a new API. This is due to be released as a full Home Assistant Integration Q3 2021 (1st July - 30th Sept).
The new integration is faster, more secure and just plain better! If you want to get on board, follow this how-to tutorial and get it installed!

Have to say I´m amazed how straight forward this setup went. I almost gave up on tuya after fizzling around with the previous version of the integration, which was a nightmare to set up and frankly never worked properly. Seems like tuya made their homework this time and are now on the right track - hope they keep it up!

Nice step-by-step guide. I've had some cheap Bluetooth sensors from a local DIY store (Arlec Bluetooth Gateway, Bunnings Australia) which weren't supported by HA, was hoping the new integration might eventually support these further down the track, but boom there they are straight away!

Last time i bought equipment with Tuya onboard (Garden watering from Riverside ), i ripped the crap out & replaced it with a wemos D1 mini & 2 relays. Works perfectly and will for sure avoid their crap in the future.

Thanks for the guide, I can see all my devices in the IoT platform but they do not show in Home Assistant. If I use the Tuya integration rather than the Tuya V2 they all load fine in Home Assistant apart from the temperature sensors which show as switches (hence the reason to switch to V2). The V2 integration loads but has no entities - just wondered if there is anything obvious I have missed? Cheers.

Thanks. I have gotten all the way through to adding the integration in HA which authenticates ok but shows no devices/entities although they show up on tuya app on phone and show as linked on the developer page. What am I missing. I am using v 1.5 of repository

Thanks for a nice clear run through - wish I'd found this before wading through multiple pages of stuff that wasn't up to date... I have it running with some Lidl bulbs and gateway (Zigbee) and HA Docker sees them fine (which it didn't with the previous integration) - however, the status isn't maintained, so when a light is switched on, the dashboard immediately 'forgets' the status and reverts back to showing the light as off. No huge issue, except that it means you have to toggle it back 'on' in HA before you can turn it off. It also means the status shows incorrectly in Alexa, although the verbal command to turn off does seem to work at least. Given that the Lidl bulbs don't show up as devices in Alexa as standard otherwise then just seeing them is a big improvement! Seems to not lose the status with your device, so I'm guessing that may be an issue at the tuya server end which hopefully they'll resolve before release...

Hi, it depends on the device. The ones I show report status, but I have some that do not. I have some devices that when you trigger manually it doesn’t report the status.

Have you had any news on Tuya local ? I love the devices but no way can I trust my home security and control to a server in China or a good interney for that matter. However I am very keen on Tuya local. I have my Tuya shopping list ready to go once the promised Tuya local arrives.

Great video thanks! I noticed you mentioned you have a gateway connected. Will this mean I could use tuya v2 without a zigbee dongle, straight trough my tuya zigbee gateway?

Yes, that’s exactly right. The temp and humidity sensor is working through the Tuya Zigbee Gateway.

i have followed everything but still get invalid authentication when trying to log in in home assistant ive looked at the website and followed all of the tips to get around this but nothing seams to work

I keep getting invalid credentials although my info is correct. Maybe it's my country code (trinidad and tobago)? but no matter what i try it's not working! Please help...

Does your Gateway work is that a Smart Gateway ZigBee Hub ? can you get Home Assistant to pair anything with it directly no Cloud Please

Hi, this video is tied into the TUYA cloud/API. But it is possible to have no-cloud with other devices.

Do you have any news whether they are going to intergrate IR Blasters ? I have been using them in HA using scenes Tap-To-Run for every command but it is just a pain in the ass. :)

@@HomeSight I hope they will look into it cause these are great devices for many electrical appliances. I got control of 6 devices in my living room only with one IR Blaster. It is a pity that there is no official intergration for these. :)

hi, great Video! This is off-topic, but under server controls, I don't have a configuration valid box anymore at all. I used to but now the only thing I have is the server management. I'm confused, I was hoping you could tell me why. Anyway Great Video!

Hi! I have an issue with adding Tuya V2 in Home Assistant. I install it via Hacs, so far so good. Reboot system but it does not show up in integrations. All i see is Tuya and LocalTuya. Tried reinstall several times and with different versions. Home Assistant blue (if it makes any difference?)

I am using the Tuya old version, what do I need to do to change to V2? do I have to remove the old integration first? Also I have added the repository and gone past the restart but no Tuya V2 shows in the integration search, just the standard Tuya one.

Hi Stephen, you also need to 'install' the Tuya 2 integration via the Integration page.

@@RocketBoom1966 I didn't seem to get that option until I removed the old Tuya integration, that didn't give me the Tuya V2 so I restored the snapshot I had taken and after that the V2 showed up in the integration list. weird, working fine now thanks.

This is driving me mad. I looked for an answer and on the related topic in HA community, just in one page I saw several different solutions, from using your phone number instead of your email to using any email other than a gmail to completely defining a new project and using that instead. A few actually advised to define a new Tuya account. None of them worked for me. I even turned off my firewall since somebody said he had issues with Tuya trying to access a site that the firewall had blocked. Still stuck at loging into the system at adding integration tep. This is stupid, the whole Sunday afternoon and night gone. 12:40am and I am still trying to get it to work. When will these people make something decent?

Have you checked the supported list to see if they should be working? I know Tuya are adding more devices in each release.

@@HomeSight I actually found it. I went past that step. Then went to overview, service api, then the blue box -(go to authorize), then I had to subscribe to it and now it works!

Great video but for me it just wont work no matter what I try it says invalid authentication, Ive tried the emails i use and different passwords etc. I even installed the tuya integration and logged in with that to make sure I had the correct details but i will not work for me. I know this isnt something your likely to be able to help with but since tuya asked you to try it maybe they will see this because everytime it says invalid it wipes the inputs Ive already copy and pasted over and so I have to start again really frustrating.

Are you using the right credentials. It needs to be the one you use for the app, not the one you use for the developer account.

When I use the old integration I have to use my phone number as my username because I dont have an email registered in the app so I wonder if thats the issue

Doesn't work at all with third party apps which are just rebranded versions of the tuya app. The Soleus Home Comfort app is clearly just a rebranded version, the QR code scanning even works in it and I can see the QR code become invalid on the IoT site as soon as I scan it but it doesn't link it. I can also see the Soleus app talking to tuya servers. It's a shame because I really want to be able to control my Soleus A/C unit from Home Assistant but it's just not working in this case. I hope they improve on this to allow those third party ones to be added / controlled as well. Or make an easier way for us to get the local key so that we can control them via the Local Tuya integration.

Hi, that's really interesting. It works with the "smartlife" app, which is clearly not branded Tuya. Have you tried registering your device in the Tuya or Smartlife App instead?

Make sure you use the user/pass that you use for the App, not the logon to the Tuya Iot page.

I'm already sick and tired of Tuya - I can't link my app, the QR code keeps returning an error saying it's expired and I've tried (to my knowledge) anything I can. Bye bye HA control of my new led strips.. F"#¤ng hell
