How to Setup Windows 11 PC Without Microsoft Account.
Did you know you can setup Windows 11 PC Without Microsoft Account?
In this video I will show you a nice little process step by step on how to setup Windows 11 without Microsoft Account and enable local account on Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 11 24H2.
At least until they patch it :-)
First Install Windows 11
When the select a region dialogue screen appears press SHIFT + F10 this will bring up the command prompt Window.
Click on the Window to make it the active window (or you won't be able to type anything)
Now we can tell Windows 11 to create a new user account with this command
net user (insert name here) /add
Next we need to make this account an Administrator with this command
net localgroup Administrators (insert same name here) /add
Next we need to continue the Windows out of Box experience with this command
cd OOBE
and then type
msoobe.exe && shutdown.exe -r
this will restart Windows 11
When windows reboots there will be a password error, click ok.
Next select your username from the bottom left and Windows 11 will continue the rest of the installation process.

Upon opening the command line window I would make a restore point just in case a later version of microsoft windoze causes the process to break it or introduce undesirable results. In general, before making any changes to a system, I make a restore point.

Thank you! but have a question ' an Unsupported like mine Windows 10 Desktop (bought it in 2016/ 64 GB and a 2.0 TPM) My processor seems to show it is the only reason why mine won't Upgrade. Even though everything else says "Ready. Ready!" having said that can follow your tutorial as have done on some others and installed windows 11 but what if I want to still receive normal security updates? for the foreseeable future? Does one must settle to update an Unsupported system bypassing Microsoft guidelines/warnings or is that Not really a factor. thank you!

Hi Mike, on a previous video, users indicated that Shift + F10 is no longer working (the issue I am having as well), and you directed them to this video. Your first instruction is to press Shift + F10 so I'm confused. How can we bypass the Microsoft account if we can't get the command prompt to come up?

@@mikesunboxing It doesn't appear to work on mine. It's a brand new build from Lenovo. Is it possible they've locked out the Command prompt now as well? EDIT: After trying over and over, I was finally ready to give up and started the process to set it up on a domain. I saw another comment saying try CTRL + SHIFT + F10. That worked! It gave me the command prompt and then setup without internet. Computer is setup and desktop is visible. Now on to the next stages of securing my system....from Microsoft. Ugh. 2ND EDIT: So it looks like the issue was mine. On closer inspection, my laptop keys CTRL and Fn are reversed (Fn is the farthest left) so I was pressing Fn not CTRL. In addition, in my BIOS, there was a setting to make the F1-F12 keys primary or secondary (to the normally secondary functions). Mine were set to secondary. So I had to press SHIFT + Fn + F10 to get SHIFT + F10. So, my fault, but I would never have thought that the keys would be set up this way. It's one thing for Microsoft to keep changing where various Windows settings are located, but now Lenovo is changing where keys are and how they operate. Maybe next they'll change from the QWERTY keyboard to the DVORAK keyboard, just because.

Help! If followed the instructions to the letter but after the final login screen came up it's now demanding a password for the default user which I don't have. Scared I've bricked a brand new pc

something doesn't sound right there, not sure how you have got to that point but if you didn't set a password there won't be one so press enter

@mikesunboxing it's been sorted but thanks for the reply. Found a video showing how to get into command prompt and remove password option without a password needed. As the cmd I had a suggestion to set password that wasn't in your video so I stupidly ignored it.

It's better to tie that OEM license to a Microsoft account though, you can use a local account after. If there are any activation problems in the future, you can simply login with the tied Microsoft account. That won't work if you changed the motherboard

For some laptops the Shift +F10 not brings the command prompt.. so instead use Fn+Shift+f10

@@mikesunboxing scouting videos everywhere to find the key! 😂 Worst case scenario is I install windows 10, setup a local account and then upgrade. I’ll make a usb key of the latest windows 11 that I know it works on and keep it. That way in future if they ever close it off I can still get in and then upgrade.

they might but it will be hard to do because there is a huge install base that use WIndows domains, so they don't want to upset the domain admins

Confirmed NOT WORKING as of JUNE 23rd, 2024. Brand new Lenovo Win11 setup, strait out of the box. SHIFT+F10 key is no longer working. It'll just hang on the top listed in Region all day long.
