The delays are widespread at the moment due to microchip shortages, what spec did you go for?

Thanks Adam, yep it's relatively easy to switch between the two there is the normal docking bar on the far right which is the Audi mmi, plus a little app called Audi mmi that shows up too. And yep doesn't work on the virtual cockpit, a shame really as that feature had so much potential but they've really limited it in my opinion.

I've gone for the Audi A3 Sportback S-line in Blue Navarra, with the optional Graphite 18" wheels, wireless charging, comfort + sound, lumbar support, extended ambient lighting pack and flat bottomed steering wheel, should look pretty neat :-)

I'm not sure if they will at some point in the future. What type of A3 did you go for saloon? / Sportback And what type of extras?

@@CRD90 I got the SB 35 version. Really happy with it! I installed sunroof, the 1st sound upgrade (audi sound system), audi light box & smartphone interface, S-line interior, reverse driving camera and some others :)

Hey Charles, Thanks for watching. Still not supported on Android which is a shame, no plans to include it as far as I'm aware... But then again Audi said wireless apple carplay did not exist :) We'll find out over the coming months I guess as the spec of the cars seem to be subtly changing.

I think they may do bud, not 100% sure as I no longer own the car. Worst case you can purchase a wireless car adapter but I wouldn't worry too much about it. From memory the wireless carplay was super buggy on the Audi.

There is a dongle you can find on the internet the claims to enable it but I've never tried it 👍🏽

@@CRD90 subscribed, picking up an 8y today that was registered October 2020 and doesn’t have wireless car play, Audi have just said the A3s don’t have it, that sounds like the stock answer. But will endeavour to get it working and will keep you updated 👍

@@Blackster74 thanks bud, good luck with it. To be honest Audi have generally been a bit clueless with this whole model since the release. You might have it in an October 2020 version if you're lucky. Another quick tell tale sign is if there are two usb c ports at the front then you will have it.

Update…… I bought an OBDeleven dongle, they are not the best at communicating as I directly asked if their app as stated would activate my wireless car play, they replied saying that it will only allow video playback whilst on the move, like they were replying to someone else’s question, anyway , I managed to successfully activate wireless car play using said odb dongle via the app using 100 credits (well worth the £80 cost) after owning the car for near;y nine months when the dealer had told me point blank this was not a software upgrade and it fact it was a hardware mod which could not be done, how wrong they were.

It's only just come out so you must be one of the first :) Not sure if they made it clear to you, but they recently pulled the 360 degree camera on the vorsprung. But they did accordingly reduce the price before it was available for sale again. If you don't mind me asking (for an upcoming video) what persuaded you to go for the vorsprung? I'm trying to pull together a buyer's guide

@@CRD90 I'm getting the car through work, we get a limited list we can chose from which seems to change as the wind changes direction. I have to go through the lease company so have no direct communication with Audi when placing the order. Obviously I do visit dealers for a chat but as you say this model has only just come out so the visit was quite brief on this occasion. Most of the research I've done is online prior to ordering. It's a shame about the 360 degree camera and I can see it's now disappeared from the configurator. Your comment is the first I've known about it and that's the downside of dealing with someone in an office who just wants to process an order; I'm distanced from the dealer. I placed the order a few weeks before Christmas and was given a provisional delivery date of 29th March but with the various internal departments and the lease company to-ing and fro-ing I expect this to slip. As to why I went for the Vorsprung, there's a few reasons. I've had A4s and A5s in the past, the last being an S-Line. I could have gone for the same spec again or a Black Edition but the company car tax goes through the roof. The Vorsprung isn't cheap in this respect and I could have gone for a lower spec A3 to save money but after three years I'm currently on 110k miles so I spend a lot of time driving. The fact this car is loaded with features (despite some disappearing in front of my eyes) means I'll have a new driving experience for a good while. I could have gone for a similar model to the car I currently have but that would have been similar to the iPhone effect; you upgrade to a new phone and it may have the odd improvement but the user experience is basically the same as you load it with all the same apps you've been using for years. So, different model and higher spec gives me a chance to have explore and enjoy the drive and features of a new car over the next three years rather than "same again". If I had to say which feature I'm most looking forward to, it would have to be driving at night with the matrix lights. I hope this is of interest and makes sense, we'll have to wait and see what features it gets delivered with, hopefully they wont strip anything else.

@@jojubs thanks bud, really good info there. If I had the time again I would go for a vorsprung which wasn't out at the time I ordered. By the time you spec the edition1 up a little bit e.g panoramic roof, lane change assist - the difference between it and an all singing all dancing vorsprung becomes relatively small. I'll hopefully be going through a spec comparison soon to help future buyers

@@CRD90 Hi mate, I hope all is well with you. I've emailed the lease company and asked for an update on the delivery. Originally it was the end of March, it's been revised to possibly June. Apparently this is due to "an unconfirmed build week". Frustrating.

@@oychobi no worries bro you're welcome. I do know on older cars you could enable this and you might be able to find a "coder" in your country that could switch it on. There was a good tool called odb11 which would enable many things but I think it currently does not work on the latest cars :(

Hi Mateusz, thanks for watching. I hope you will subscribe to help us grow the channel :) My wife has an S20+ which has the wireless option in there, I enabled it but had no luck. Someone has mentioned new Audi's from January may support it so I will keep you updated if we see anyone who has got it working :) In the meantime, if I do find anyone with a pixel phone I will get them to try too, although I expect it will not work until Audi enable wireless android auto.

Not sure to be honest bud, the UK spec always has the smartphone interface. I've only ever experienced one german spec car which did not have the smartphone interface. He did not have carplay or android auto. Which country are you buying your car from?

The wireless charger has no influence on whether carplay can be used or not. I just used it on a car this weekend that did not even have the wireless charging box and the wireless carplay worked flawlessly.

Hey bro, not sure if it is now available via software update or not. From memory the wireless was flakey anyway so I wouldn't be too worried if you're missing out on that feature. You could also always get one of the wireless adapters

Hi this doesn’t work I have the a3 8y s line spec with usb ports at the front also software version is 06/2021 had to use OBDeleven pro and activate wireless CarPlay that way you must have the edition 1 which comes with it standard others don’t as I tried it several times

Hi there, yes there are small subtle differences. Later 2021 and 2022 models had certain options stripped out due to shortages of parts. You won't notice a significant difference though. If you've purchased an Audi before and are happy with the service then you should go ahead and buy it. However be prepared for certain errors and components going wrong that often take months to resolve with poor customer service. I moved away from the brand and honestly could not be happier 👍🏽

Not 100% sure bud depends which region you are in. This works on all UK cars built after roughly October 2020. In the UK we only have the mmi plus with sat nav etc built in.

@@CRD90 i have a he new shape Audi a1 sportback but it was one of the first built as its a 2019 ex showroom car so no wireless CarPlay until the 2020 build cars. However if you have the pro OBD11 package you can adapt the code very easily and turn on the required things for apple CarPlay to work on any Audi with the new MMI screens, Audi just basically turn it off. if you want to message me i can link you to the video explaining how to do it, and if you live locally your more than welcome to use my OBD11 dongle saves you buying one. :)

So from what I understand it was the my20 models that they've changed the diagnostic ports and the communication method. I think some stuff still works but the majority doesn't and odbEleven have no clear date on when they'll get a work around. Trying it out would be cool! Where abouts are you based? I'm in London.

@@CRD90 love your content and love your spec of car, been watching since the beginning. funny you mentioned about the MY20 models as i was just reading a forum on ODB11 site and from what i have read all MY20 VW group cars have come with new security when it comes to using the OBD port. from what i read it basically requires a 2 factor authentication like a iPhone would, and the only way to get this is being a dealer or a VW group authorised workshop for the time being. i am based in watford just outside london but happy to meet in the middle somewhere to give it a try as you never know it could work as your car isnt one with it activated already so running slighty older software. it literally took 5 mins to do once watching the video :)

@@Nicola-eb4rd same as mine then. So the official line from Audi believe it or not is there is no free update for us 😡 let alone any planned update. I was too annoyed that they should have given us a May 2020 update that existed before our cars were built. That software allows the wireless aspect to work. @@CRD90 for sure, i have already seen the product and ask them to understand how they do this. I will try to long code the car but there is a sort of new firewall that dont you let connect. The strange thing is that my S3 is missing the S3 Cockpit visualization and the Audi Dealer dont understand why so i think they will be costrict to update or get the problem fixed. I hope that doing that even the carplay wireless will be unlocked.

@@Nicola-eb4rd yeah since 2020 they've changed the way the coding communication works which is strange that this company seem to get around it. In regards to the s3 dynamic display, I don't think this is software related as I've not come across anyone in the UK that has the right one. I think it's to do with the smaller virtual cockpit on the S3, all the review cars on KZfaq tend to have the virtual cockpit plus which has that extra display on it. I'm going to be checking out a 1 month old S3 in a week or so, so will check on it for you. But I think this is Audi being Audi again and I bet you that display is only available on the more expensive vorsprung which has the virtual cockpit plus.

@@CRD90 nej Jag känner inte till något återkallande på grund av batteri problem enligt Audi Sverige är det inget fel på batteriet utan mint kör sätt som gör att bilens batteri inte hinner laddas upp och dom tänker inte åtgärda felet på garanti .

Out of interest was your car built pre October? And have a different snapshot than shown in the video? Not good that they pretty much said tough only newer cars will have the feature with no free update for those of us who got the car early. They even thought the carplay was enabled by accident at one stage loool! And was part of a entry model spec. (This was I proved to them it existed in the first place)

@@CRD90 I collected it on 20th October 2020 and I just checked and my version of software is 15th October 2019. The annoying thing is when it was towed back to the dealer (West London Audi) a week after I picked it up they said they “updated it to the latest version” so they lied to me.

And this is precisely what I kept asking them for. Why did they give us an October 2019 update when our cars were built in late 2020? Furthermore the May 2020 update which clearly enables it existed at the time our car was built, but some lemon decided to put the older software on the cars. Now rather than offer it as a free upgrade to customers, we have been told sorry no free update scheduled and it was only included after a certain build date. (I figured out through a subscriber that it's roughly cars built in October) My guess is yours was built late September if you received it end of October. For me I use android, but I can only imagine the frustration as you have paid exactly the same price as anyone else and should be entitled to the same software and capabilities.

@@CRD90 well I have emailed asking why they lied to me. Informing me I had the latest version when clearly I do not. I have software which was a year old when I purchased the car. I should find out this week about the rejection of the vehicle and I hope they just take it back.
