It's amazing to see this pattern on a plus-size model as well. I'm so used to seeing stock images of a pattern on a single size, it's interesting to see how it changes to fit different bodies. When I clicked the thumbnail I had automatically assumed it was a "Different" pattern. lol

I love seeing the pace at which you see things through the machine. I know it takes more editing than just a time lapsed video but its great to see how deliberate the stitches are. Sometimes it looks like people just through things through the machine and get perfect results. Its nice to be reminded to take as much time as you need to get it night!

This looks so nice! And much less intimidating - the hardest thing to find for corsets where I live is a busk, so this really seems like the perfect project to start on. I'm excited to try this when I manage to have a free weekend!

Thanks! And I’m glad! I really wanted to make the pattern as un-intimidating as possible 😊 Busks aren’t actually super difficult to use, but if you’re totally new to corsets then it can be nice to know you don’t *have* to use one. I hope you like the pattern! ❤️

Oh my gosh! Since I live in Japan, it’s really difficult to find materials for corsets (especially a busk) because people don’t really make them at all. Your tut seems simple enough for a beginner like me, and you explain this really well ;-; I’m going to start spring break this week, so I’m really looking forward to making a corset with your tut!🫶

This tutorial is really great! Love how you explain the steps very clearly and as person who only sews as a hobby and learns everything about it from YT it makes the corset process look less daunting! Will def put this on my todo sewing projects and do it once I have the materials!^^

Very clear tutorial! Thankyou so much. Your camera angles are well focused, neither too much time spent watching you sew nor did you rush through so we couldn't quite see how to do it. Great job!

I went and bought the pattern even before you started showing the process!!! I don’t have time to work on it in the next few weeks, but this is DEFINITELY my next project!! I am going to hand sew a lot of the corset, but that’s just because I love handsewing ;)

I appreciate the resources for the fabric but where did you find the synthetic boning and the material for boning channel? I got something from etsy for the boning but I’m not sure it was the best. One more question for you. I am heavy set and use my (1st and only corset I made) for support not tight lacing. Waist 47, hips, 53, and underbust 43 (inches for all). The issue I’m having is the top of the underbust is curving in since the underbust is smaller and i have a desk job so im sitting a lot (the reason for the support). It digs in and makes it so i can’t wear the corset much. I did make it front lacing. Im thinking it needs to be back lacing and maybe more/better boning throughout. Do you have any advise or suggestions? Also, thank you for an amazing and well thought out clear concise video. I think my next one will be much easier after watching you make this. I’ve already purchased your pattern. I move that there is no buck since i want to wear it regularly and don’t want everyone to know i have it on. Thank you.

I get all my corsetry supplies - fabric, boning, twill tape, eyelets, etc. from Sew Curvy or Vena Cava Design 😊 They’re both in the UK since that’s where I’m based, unfortunately I’m not really familiar with which shops to use in different countries. It’s hard to say whether the problem is with the boning or the pattern without seeing your corset, but I’d guess it’s either because there’s not enough support in the front, or because the top edge extends a little too high. I’d definitely try a closed front and more boning the next time around, you could even look for a solid busk or piece of wide metal boning to use in the center front to give a little extra support. To add that in you can just make a wider boning channel out of coutil and then treat it like a normal piece of boning. And thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope you enjoy the pattern too. If you run into any problems with it just let me know ❤️

Hi, this is amazing!! What pliers did you use? The one my corset shop sells is incredibly expensive and I’m wondering if there’s a less expensive option? Thank you so much 😊
@LinaPiprek
@LinaPiprek 2 жыл бұрын
The pliers to put in eyelets? Mine are from Prym, I think they’re called “vario pliers” and I use them with Prym eyelets. You’ll want to get pliers/a press/hammer tools that match the eyelets you’re using. I like the pliers a lot, but there’s no guarantee that they’d work with eyelets from another company, since they all tend to be slightly different sizes/shapes. Hope that helps! 😊

Hi, I made this corset based on your pattern, thank you for this tutorial! Everything went perfectly well but I have two questions: First, I would like to know what kind of eyelets you use, because mine ended un rough, leading them to scratch slightly the fabric of the underlayer and make it hard for the ribbon to slide smoothly. Maybe I just applied it wrong, but as I did follow the instructions... I don't know. Are they any specific types of eyelets meant for corsetry? And my second question is about the number of eyelets, I heard that to be laced properly corset needed to be tied at the waist, but with only seven eyelets on each side how should we do that?
@LinaPiprek
@LinaPiprek 11 ай бұрын
I like Prym eyelets for corsetry! They’re 2 part and apply nice and smooth - in my experience they don’t snag the ribbon like some other brands. And I would lace this one top to bottom. The lacing you’re describing is sometimes called “bunny ears”, and it’s helpful because it makes it quicker and easier to tighten the corset, but you don’t *have to* lace a corset this way. Since this pattern doesn’t have a busk, you’ll need to lace/unlace every time you wear it (or use super long ribbons), so the extra time to do the special lacing would mean you’re not really saving any time tightening it, especially because it’s such a short corset anyway.

Definitely! If you’re hand sewing the eyelets then don’t use a hole punch though - just use an awl to make the holes. They’ll be stronger that way 😊

Hi I just got the pattern. I'm confused as to what waist measurement to cut out as I don't have a corset to get a corseted waist measurement.
@LinaPiprek
@LinaPiprek 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! The instructions for choosing a size are at 01:45 and it does explain what to do if you’ve never worn a corset 😊 Like I mention in that part of the video and in the written instructions, the pattern gives between 4 and 10 cm of reduction, so the corseted waist measurement is 4-10cm smaller than your natural waist. The exact amount will depend on your size and body, but typically smaller sizes will have less reduction and larger sizes will have more. Unfortunately without knowing your measurements or body type I really can’t give you a more precise answer. I’d recommend taking your rib and high hip measurements as a starting point, and if the corresponding waist measurement is 4-10cm smaller than your natural waist then you can make a mock-up in that size and see how it fits.

I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling with the size chart. If you send me an email to linapiprekdesign@gmail.com with your measurements, I’ll get back to you after the holidays to help you figure out the best way forward. Like I mentioned in the video, the size chart is unlikely to fit everyone without adjustments, since it’s a limited set of measurements while humans are much more unlimited. I do try really hard to make my size charts inclusive, but I need a fit model and sets of measurements proportional to that model in order to grade a pattern like this (in this case myself and my friend who was in the reveal), which naturally makes the size chart somewhat limited. But please do send me an email if you have questions about how to make it work for you-I’m always happy to help.
