This would make great gifts. Drying Mat, hanging dish towels, and hot pads and oven gloves to match kitchen theme or holiday themes.

I use dush drying mats daily. There's just those things that I don't put in the dishwasher. I love this! Being able to make a unique colorful useful thing for my kitchen is great!

Thanks for the idea and tutorial! I’ve been needing new dish drying mats as I don’t have a dish washer either and use them all the time. I like the idea of using older towels so I can make them with supplies I already have.

Glad it was helpful! I like the idea of using an old towel and giving It a new life. It was a simple change to my kitchen but my pizza drying mat has livened up doing dishes.

I have a dishwasher but I still use a dish drying mat for small items and things I don't put in the dishwasher. I love the jellyroll version

I used Bosal for bag making. Excellent for totes, purses etc.

I do have a dishwasher and wash dishes by hand. I prefer by hand as the dishwasher can take up to 3-hrs. I do like the dish drying mat idea and would definitely consider making them, even though I have a dish drying rack, which I don’t like seeing on the counter.

Dishwashers are great for holiday gatherings. Makes life easier. I enjoy washing dishes but I’ve never been a fan of putting away the dishes.

I use one everyday & I have a dishwasher! Those dollar tree mats also make good purse batting!!!!! Love the foam! Love you work Robin♥️♥️

I use a dish drying mat often I think I need another one or two, I also put the mat over my crockpot when I cook it helps cut down cooking time.

Robin, I made a lot of these this past Christmas from mats from the Dollar Tree. They are also the perfect size to fit underneath a pyrex baking dish to set on your table to protect table. When the food is gone, the pretty mat shows through. I have also cut the mats in half and made mug rugs with them. I also just sew material on top and add binding, leaving the back with mat showing. It keeps it from sliding. I also have these on my wooden t.v. trays and they look so pretty. I wish I knew how to upload pictures of the ones I've done.

I have a facebook group if you’d like to show your photos there. My Dollar Tree dish mats arrived yesterday. I’m going to have fun playing with them. I’ll pop up another video showing what I make with them. Thank you for the ideas. I wouldn’t have thought that the mats were thick enough to use as a hot pad. The ones I received are similar to the Dollar Tree hand towels. With a thin foam in the middle.

@@rsislandcrafts Well, I wouldn't put a casserole straight from the oven on it, but it works fine for putting a warm dish on it to put on the table.. I'll try to upload photos on the facebook group. I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for posting!!!

I like using a dish drying mat for just a few things so I cut down a commercial one to the size I wanted. I like the idea of covering it with a cute fabric. Thanks Robin.

For big family dinners I sometimes need to use the dish strainer, dish mat, and a dish towel on the stove. It’s good to be prepared.

We do use a dish drying mat for those items that can't go in the dishwasher and also those small items that can be washed quickly such as tea balls, measuring cups and spoons, etc.

Love the pizza fabric and the 'strips' colours look great. No dish washer here and I've never used a dish drying mat - I usually rest and drain the plates on a mug then hand dry later. Just finished my late tea 😋 and that's the next job waiting for me 🤐☕🔪🥄

Here's an idea I use when sewing thicker areas... I lower the pressure on my presser foot. It really helps!

No, I don't use a dish drying mat, a lot because of space. I have a dishwasher, but still wash by hand because with just the two of us, would take forever to fill the dishwasher. Usually if I have a pan or something that will not fit in my drainer, I wipe the bottom off and set it on the stove. I have always wondered how these mats were as far as water going through and setting on the counter. So you eased my mind with that. The other thing, I think if I ever used one, I would have one of those cooling racks...I would place it on one of those that way the air could get under it, too. But even with that idea, I do not have room..

Using a raised cooling rack is a great idea. If I put something like a bowl on my drying mat I always prop It up or lay It on a fork or something so that air can get under It. Otherwise It can smell and dry well. I usually come back an hour or two after washing my dishes and flip some things over. My plastic ziploc containers have lips and ridges. If I don’t flip them the water just sits in those spots.

I have purchased dish drying mats because I do not use a dishwasher. It is great for pots and pans but also for delicate glassware. Mine get grungy even after washing due to hard water minerals. I may just recover the old ones to get more use. Great tutorial.

I don't use a dish drying mat. I have a double sink so the clean dishes go in the opposite sink. I do have a dishwasher but there are certain things I prefer to wash by hand like plastic stuff.

I also have a double sink. While those deep farmhouse sinks look amazing It would be an adjustment for me to have only one sink compartment. I use a strainer on the counter plus my drying mat. A dishwasher would be a luxury 😁

I have heard you mention cleaning your iron, do you have a specific way of cleaning an iron, including the face plate, any tricks of the trade?

I recently received a little tube of iron cleaner but I haven’t tried It yet. I normally wet an old washcloth and run my iron over that. Hot and steamy. If that doesn’t work I use Mr. Clean white sponge thing. The one for walls. I just have to be careful because the iron is hot. The wet washcloth usually takes care of most stuff. Some stuck on iron gunk is easier to clean on a cold iron. Of course you can use any cloth that can handle a hot iron. A washcloth is easy to wash. I hope that helps. I don’t do anything fancy.
