Thank you so much! I was worried it wouldn't be possible for me to machine sew a patch on a sleeve and now I see it is! Thanks!

Nice sewing machine and video. But is there any way to sew a patch on the elbow of a jacket or some coveralls? Does that have to be done by hand or is there some trick (like turning the foot 90 deg) to allow the longitudinal sewing needed on the patch?
@LetsLearnToSew7 ай бұрын
That's tough unless you have a specialty machine. It will take a lot of stopping and readjusting of the garment.

what stitch are you using? Straight? Zigzag?

I need to sew patches on my son’s scout uniform. I’m brand new to sewing machines. Do you just use the default straight stitch?

Anyone have a video to show how to do this where the machine doesn’t remove a section for sleeves and pant legs? Reply with a link.

Thank you for this video. It's very helpful. Would you have a tip on how to sew a patch on a pocket e.g. patch on a Scout uniform shirt front pocket so the pocket isn't stitched shut?
@LetsLearnToSew4 жыл бұрын
Small pockets are not easy. You just have to maneuver the backside out of the way the best you can. A sewing machine with a small bed area/free-arm is helpful. I'd honestly probably either hand sew or use patch adhesive.

@@LetsLearnToSew Okay, thank you! After a bit of research I'm going to try a curved needled and maybe even make a short angled needle. Thanks for inspiring the thinking on this!

Take the pocket off, sew patch on, and then sew the pocket back on the shirt.
@unclearnuclear7 ай бұрын
Hey that sounds like not a bad idea!

Do you need to tie the thread tail with a knot when you are done?
@LetsLearnToSew8 ай бұрын
When sewing with a sewing machine, you use the sewing machine's backstitch to lock the stitch. If you are sewing it on with a hand needle and thread, yes, you will have to tie a knot in the thread tail on the backside.

@@LetsLearnToSew Thanks for your help. All these years, I have been back stitching and tying the end knot.

Hello ! I need this exact same patch on mine. I have a sewing machine but I dont know how to use it that well. Do you have teal thread in the bottom one too? Thank you!
@LetsLearnToSew3 жыл бұрын
I would use the same thread on the bottom if you can.

I need help! Ironing a patch on a sleeve from a denim jacket! 😅
@gwauii30503 жыл бұрын
Is there a way to remove the patch cleanly if ironed patch in place? So that scrubs can be used elsewhere?
@LetsLearnToSew3 жыл бұрын
Not really. There is usually some residue left behind. If you're lucky the new patch will cover it.

Could you remove a sewn on match without damaging scrub top?
@LetsLearnToSew3 жыл бұрын
If you go slow you usually can. Work from the backside and take your time.

How do sewn on patches hold up in the washing machine?
@LetsLearnToSew2 жыл бұрын
I wash my scrubs weekly and the patch is holding up fine. I'm about to graduate. I may have to do a follow-up video to show just how well it did hold up.

What if it is the same spot, but a long sleeve shirt? Is it as easy to keep twisting?
@LetsLearnToSew2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think it is.
@unclearnuclear7 ай бұрын
@h.v. I would recommend testing it out before turning the machine on. Just see if you can make it rotate all the way around 🙂

What tension did you use?
@LetsLearnToSew2 жыл бұрын
My machine auto adjusts the tension for me but for a patch you should only have to slightly decrease it from what you normally use.
