Thank you so much for your quick response. One other question-if I had embroidered this very dense design with it previously being quilted, “the 3 layers”, would this dense design kind of disappear into the background. This was something someone else had mentioned at a quilt shop. I just would like to know the correct procedure for future projects. You really seem to know how to deal with individual projects.

Are you asking if you embroider a dense design and then quilt it, will the embroidery design by lost? If that is your question, I don’t think so at all.
@cathierobb8712

@@TheBirchCottage actually the opposite, if I have already quilted the 3 layers, then do the dense design, would it be lost
@TheBirchCottage
@TheBirchCottage 7 ай бұрын
Not at all! If you quilt the fabric first, then do a dense embroidery design, the design will be on top of the quilting. Some of the quilting will be lost because it’s under the design.

I have already embroidered my pillow front using sf101 stabilizer. I still want to quilt it. Should I just iron on the fusible batting on back and quilt around it.
@TheBirchCottage
@TheBirchCottage 7 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what I would do. Some people quilt through the design, but I think it looks better to quilt around the design if you embroidered n the fabric first.

Ions more question: Why is the fusible fleece piece for the pillow upper back larger than the fabric needed for the pillow upper back?
@TheBirchCottage
@TheBirchCottage 8 ай бұрын
Fusible fleece should be the same size or slightly smaller than the fabric.

@@TheBirchCottage okay thanks. This is what I thought. However, the reason I asked was because the description reads to cut fabric at 12” and fusible fleece at 13” so I needed clarification. Would 13” fabric be better for the top flap? Or would that be excessive?
@TheBirchCottage
@TheBirchCottage 8 ай бұрын
I like to use this as a guideline, “1/2 the height plus 4”. You can make the top 13” instead of 12”. It just means the back will overlay the bottom more. I really dislike it when the pillow sticks out of the envelope opening in the back. Feel free to try the 13”. Let me know how it goes.

In the video, you mentioned that you used fusible fleece. However, the material list in the description box, you have listed fusible interfacing fir the back pieces and fusible fleece for the pocket. Are both the same product with different name?

Hi, Laura. You can use fusible fleece or fusible interfacing on the pillow back. The fleece is a thicker material. It totally depends on the look/feel you want. In the video, I am using fusible fleece on the front, back, pocket and handle of the pillow. In fact, I'm using Pellon 987F fusible fleece (which is interfacing). I've also used Pellon's Shape-Flex (SF101) interfacing for the back of the pillow cover and that is what I am referencing in the list of materials. Again, it's really a matter of preference. In fact, it's not really even necessary to use any interfacing on the pillow cover back. But, since these pillow covers will primarily be used by children, I like to make them softer. Thus, the reason I'm using fusible fleece on the front, back and pocket. I hope this helps!
