Hi 🙋‍♀️, I love this toddler apron ! I want to make one for my friend’s daughter . I just noticed you are in UK , I am in Canada and we use Letter size North American standard . I think you use A4 paper size . I don’t have that sizing paper here. Is your template using A4? Many of other KZfaqr have a print scale for us to measure to make sure we both are at the same % in printing. May I ask you how to adjust your template for North American Letter size? Thank you 🙏🏻, I truly love your apron and would like to make it for more of my friends who are becoming grandparents and I am heading to baby showers .
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 3 жыл бұрын
@@berniecelee5062 Yes, we do use A4 which is 8.25" x just under 11.25". I think if you ensure the printer is set to 100% it should come out the right size, you might just get a bit missing off the bottom of the page. Are you able to see your friend's daughter in person? It might be an idea to make a rough version from old sheeting to try it on her first before you commit to cutting your decent fabric, c x

I ordered this pattern & received it fine. I like the little apron. However, the directions that came with the templates, were not clear at all. I could not make sense of the directions. I turned to You Tube and found your video. I know that you are the same lady from whom I received the pattern. The video explained the process so well. I was pleased to see it. It just made it so simple for me to sew it. The problem that I could not figure out from the directions was how to sew the dress & turn it right side out. The video was really informative......not so the written directions that came with the templates. Thank you for the video. 🙂

If you will email me privately, I'll help you with whatever information I have. The different sizes on the other web site are all different prices. It would be a lifesaver to have actual measurements here instead of going to pdf which some people don’t have. This is the one I would love to make if only I have the measurements. Your instructions are so concise.
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 3 жыл бұрын
I don't have a printer at home, everything is drafted (several times) by hand. You can see the basic shape of the pieces from the overhead shot (hopefully), and you could possibly recreate it once you know the chest measurement and length you want. Alternatively if you can see the pdf on screen you could try tracing it onto thin paper (as long as it's not a touch screen your viewing it on). Hope this helps, c x

Nicely explained, thank you! I usually leave the gap in the bottom edge, but I'll try the side seam next time. But I turn it out using a thin chop stick - then there's no danger of poking the scissors through the corner.

I made this apron, I printed the pattern, thank you for free, but when I lined it all up, and I checked and double checked, there was a difference of roughly 1 cm between the outer panels and the main body, I lined up the arms and it was "out", so had to trim. In the video the seam allowance you suggest wasn't possible. I have to say it was such an easy project for an absolute beginner and I love your channel. Thank you.

I really want to make this for my next door neighbours baby as they always shovel the snow on our our front step, but I don’t know how to enlarge the pattern to make it an actual 24 month size. How can I adjust the pattern for my 3 month old granddaughter?
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandi, it's been a long time since my girl was three months so I've no real idea of how small that would be. Do you have some old sheets of something you could cut up to make a sample and then adjust from there? I would think you'll only need to take an inch off each side seam and a couple of inches off the length. The other adjustment might need to be made to the shoulder to shoulder distance so the neck hole isn't too large but that can be done by taking half an inch off the front fold line. I hope this helps, c x

@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 2 ай бұрын
Do you mean the printed pattern? It's designed to print out on A4 (UK paper size) and should just line up. If you're printing on an American sized paper you'll need to ensure it's printing at 100% and this might mean some of the line gets missed off. Your best bet is to lay the two sheets on a flat surface and pull apart until you can see where imaginary lines would join up naturally. You'll then have to stick a strip of paper between the sheets so you can hand sketch those imaginary lines to complete the pattern. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I can't think of any other way to describe it, c x

I have attempted this 3 times, sadly mine do not look as good as yours, but Im ok with that, I have never sewn. I did not see how to close the turning hole,, did I miss it?
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 3 жыл бұрын
It's only practise, and if you've never sewn before I have the greatest admiration for you to have even attempted this. You can close the turning holes by folding in the raw edges of the gap and either topstitching, or handstitching with an oversew stitch, c x

@TheCraftsChannel

We don't sell any patterns but if you download the free template you should be able to adjust the size to fit as they're very simple shapes. You just need to check the chest will be wide enough and the armholes not too tight, c x

From memory I don't think it is. If you look at the demo I think I draw round the template then add 5mm when it's cut out, c x

The Crafts Channel oh!!! I did not add any seam allowance. I cut out for a 9 month old so I think it will fit a 6 month old baby 😊but it's very very pretty.

@@marinadi532 Ohhh... sorry. I always do my templates this way, means I have a pencil line to use as a stitch guide. I do think there are problems with the size the template prints out though, unfortunately I can't check at the moment, c x

@@marinadi532 I've got a nasty feeling that the pdf template isn't coming out at 100%. I've looked on screen and with it at the right size the folded centre line on the 24month size should be 30.5cm. It sounds like it's coming out too small... c x
@marinadi532
@marinadi532 3 жыл бұрын
The Crafts Channel Yes, I thought so too they looked smaller. Especially after I finished stitching it looks like it will fit a 3 month old. The finished length of pinafore for 9 months is 10.5" What is your measurement?

I wish the pattern printed correctly. The straps got cut off so be sure you adjust the width of the straps before you cut.

I made one today and even though it is very cute, it seems tiny. I used the template for 24 months. Is the template exact size or should I have cut it larger?
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 3 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid I'm not sure. WFH and don't have a working printer to check for you. The aprons aren't huge but you should be able to see how much the template might need enlarging by measuring the chest area. Sorry I can't be more help at the moment. I did check the 12 month size on a baby at the time of making it, c x

@@TheCraftsChannel That's very helpful. Thank you. I realized after I made the first one that I printed it "Fit to Page." My mistake. I corrected it and made a second apron. Now my granddaughter has a matching apron for her doll. I checked and the 24 month printed PDF measures 29 cm at the folded center. Easy enough to enlarge if needed. This is my new favorite project. Thank you!!!

Sorry. Possibly dumb question but 8 couldn't see it anywhere....are the seam allowances included or excluded on the pattern. Bx

I think they're excluded, I tend to make my patterns from thin card, draw round them, and then use the pencil line as a stitching guide, c x

This could well be me, but although I have run to video a few times I didn’t see how you closed the gap you leave to turn the pinafore inside out to display the reverse side…I usually just slip stitch these openings but missed how you did that completely 🤔
