I’ve been trying and failing to do shirring all day. This is the first moment I realised I should have had thread and not elastic in the spool. 😂

great tutorial Tilly thank you - I have had a go before but started messing with the tension on my machine. This time I will just use a long straight stitch and make sure I stretch the fabric as I sew (which I didnt' last time!) :)

@@rhondalong4222did you eventually figure it out? I watched a tutorial from Elle & Mac and it worked! I was failing to bring the bobbin thread through the bobbin tension thing and now my elastic has enough tension to shirr

I’ve followed the instructions and troubleshooting and I cannot get my elastic to gather; it lays perfectly flat. Does anyone have any rogue suggestions? Hand wound bobbin, not too tight. Length at 5 Thread tension has been tested all over the place

Okay, I figured this out thanks to Elle & Mac tutorial - I was failing to thread the bobbin elastic through the bobbin tension disc thing. So, rather than just plopping the bobbin in and hand winding the needle to fish it out, I had to thread it around to the blade as if I were cutting it only not all the way. Voila, bobbin tension!
