The one you need most is the blue file. At the moment we’re giving a bottle of WD40 away with every order too. Also be sure to get a crean mate block, it’s magic!

Now that the sharpning tools are with me I should give it a go. Unfortunately I do not think it's going to be as easy as when you do it. But, I will give it a go. Thanks for the great video.

Thank you so much, glad it was helpful. Another tip. You don’t actually need to go too fine because this makes the cutting edge of your tools too sharp. They seem to actually cut better when you use only a couple swipes with the coarser files.

@@TerryErasmusbonsai I have a question about your, "crean mate" cleaning block. How do you actually clean the actual block itself? When its gets dirty or after each use? What is it made of? And how is it different than, "SandFlex?" I tried clicking on your last 3 links associated with this video and those links come up to empty product page not found. I am looking for the web link where I can view the exact 3 file sharpener tool you have on the key ring. Can you send me the exact product link? A link that works or I can Google it. I don't know the exact product full name of it to search for it? Lastly, "What would be the perfect number of times to swipe each blade with the file in regards to both shears individually and also a individual concave cutter so they don't come to sharp that they loose there hardening capabilities and become dangerously too brittle. Thank you so much Terry.

Apologies about the links. We changed the way some products were listed and this must have broken the link. However it would ONLY have affected the DMT files in your case. I will correct the links but you can find them on our website if you look under that section or in the search function. I don’t know the Sandflex product so I cannot comment. I don’t know what Crean mate is made of. I don’t clean the block. No need. I don’t know the perfect number or swipes to sharpen, I swipe till I am happy with the edge I have.

@@TerryErasmusbonsai Thank you very much Terry. I will go on your website to look for the sharpening files you used. Lastly, does the, "Crean Mate" > SCRATCH any surface or leave scratch trail marks...when I clean any part of my tools?

@Terry Erasmus yes I guessed it was going to be difficult. After buying them, 🤔
@TerryErasmusbonsai

My advice is to buy the best quality branch cutters possible as these will keep their edge longest. Some suppliers may be able to offer a service where the tools can be returned to the factory for sharpening.

Are you supposed to sharpen the “inside” cutting surface of the shears?
@TerryErasmusbonsai
@TerryErasmusbonsai 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, thanks for commenting. What are you referring to when you use the word shears? I use and demonstrate scissors and cutters in this video. Thanks!
@IllegalTacos
@IllegalTacos 3 жыл бұрын
Not usually - you might only need to do a single pass if you've created a small burr, but if it were me I'd leave the inside edge alone unless I was trying to fix a gouge or discrepancy and just do the bevelled side.
@thomask5965
@thomask5965 3 жыл бұрын
The inside surface of shears should be flat. So it’s sufficient to sharpen the other side and then you just “treat” the flat side to keep it flat by removing the burr introduced by sharpening the bevel on the other side of the scissors ✂️
